In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Ok, this is some of the scariest stuff I have ever read

I happened to be up late (haha) and listening to AM radio one night when Art Bell came on. His guest was talking about something called "peak oil" and the fact that the world's oil supply is running out much quicker than most would think. So I did a few Google searches and read more on the subject.

Scary! I am not one for doomsday scenerios, but this one seems like it may really happen? It's been on my mind every day since I heard the radio show about it. I tried to talk to my husband about it and he basically refused to ldiscuss it and called it ridiculous. So check out some of these links and tell me, what do you all think about it?

You know, I've never really heard a very logically satisfying answer to the question of how oil actually got where it is in the first place and what created it. So I guess that it is probable that no one really knows how much is available in the first place, much less how much is left. If this is a process that is ongoing, is more oil being created today by that same process?

But it is a cost thing. There are likely more sources available as the financial rewards of getting it become greater then the costs associated with that endeavor.

Regardless, unless this process of creating oil underground is still going on today, and it is working faster then we are extracting and using it, NO DOUBT at all that we are eventually going to run out of it.

Then what?

It's a serious enough issue that they discuss it in congress. It's not so much that there are no sources of oil left but that the amount of production of inexpensive oil is hitting it's peak, but the rise in demand is not. There are other sources of fossil fuels but the cost to get them out of their existing medium and into a workable form will drive the cost of fuel through the roof. The scary part is that our economy is so dramatically tied to the cost of oil that the increase of fuel costs will drive the cost of everything through the roof but payroll won't increase to match it as companies try to keep costs down (to improve sales).

There was a recent discovery of a large oil field in Utah. Some claim that it will be largest find in the US in 30 years. If they were able to pull all the oil out of it overnight, it fill the demand for 45 days. That's it.

Holy cripes.........between the diseases, oil, and the whole Yellowstone thing (there was just a thing on TV about that Yellowstone volcano recently) ...Rich, you are giving me NIGHTMARES!!!

I think this is one of those cases where I wouldn't mind a little ignorance.

Yeah, I think some of the worst stuff would probably never make prime time. When I first read a little blurb about AIDS in Science News MANY years ago, it made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. What's the status on that, worldwide? It didn't just go away, you know. I'm more afraid of the fact that it has fallen out of the news, then anything that we should be hearing about.

If you want to read a real back of the neck hair raising book, check out:

I GUARANTEE you will lose sleep.

Ughh, I have already lost enough sleep worrying about the peak oil issue and thinking about the kind of world my beautiful sons will be living in. What gets me is why doesn't the media talk about this issue? Why is it not something they are doing a lot of reprting on? If some of these predictions are even remotely on target then we should ALL be talking about it and planning for it. I guess it is easier to pretend like it isn't real.. :no_evil01

The sad truth is that the mass media is controlled. Worldwide. It is not countries that rule this world. About the 200 richest people on the planet are who runs the world. They own the oil, the media, and are the controllers of our economy. Because our global economy is 100 percent centered around oil and other depletable natural resources like coal, natural gas, etc.

That is why they do not report about that stuff. They do not want us to know. They are just wanting to delay the chaos and mayhem as long as possible. Because if we truly run out, or the supply gets so thin that the price of gas goes up to $7 to $10 or more a gallon, then the price of everything goes through the roof for EVERYTHING. Because everything is shipped now a days. Food, toys, furniture, DVDs...... EVERYTHING IS SHIPPED.

And that is not even beginning to take into account the pharmaceutical, plastic, rubber and everything else that we manufacture and depend on from petroleum.... they are going to have shortages and extreme price hikes too.

We are talking about a true global economic MELT down....... if all of this is factual. This will make the depression look like a New Years Eve party. This is Mother Earth thinning the herd. No, no way will they report that. They just want to stem the riots, mayhem and chaos as long as possible.

Well, look at it this way. If YOU were in the driver's seat and KNEW beyond a shadow of a doubt that things were going to devolve into chaos rather quickly, would you tell the world? Maybe if you were a saint or something, but in nearly all other cases, the people in the know are going to make plans for their own welfare. That does not include YOU or ME, btw. Matter of fact, things would be much easier for them if most other people didn't know what was going on. So they will hide their preparations as much as possible to keep from tipping off casual onlookers. Matter of fact, I believe that the voted in government would certainly be sacrificed in order to keep the lid on those preparations for the real powers.

I'm surprised the internet has survived so long without major controls on the content being forced into place. It really is the only grapevine that real information can travel on these days. The news media is about as worthless as it can get. I haven't watched TV for years now, and newspapers are worth only as material to line cages with. If I could get the newspapers without print on the paper I would pay even more for it. :)

Excellent book Rich! I still haven't finished it, I read it a little at a time because the reality of it can give a person many nights of lost sleep. Oh well looks like another sleepless night because I haven't picked it up in a while, and now I must!! LOL
