In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

What's his background? He doesn't look like a pure redfoot, can't think of the genus and species at the moment but his scalation on his back doesn't look right, nor does his shape.

He's pretty cool looking but weird too.

Is he freshly imported or what? He really is an oddball.

he is 100% redfoot. the scalation head pattern mtches and his plastron is definately redfoot. he was produced in captivity but has been housed with other males since he has reached maturity so any clutches produced by him would be near impossible to prove. i have him coupled with two adult virgin females so when they do decide to breed-the babies will be het for whatever it is that he is. i will incubate them at higher temps and in about ten years or so we will know for sure.

oh, and being born in captivity and raised on a poor diet for the first few years-the shell is a bit knobby-but i can live with that if he is a true mel or anery.

That does explain the shell then.

I think ten years is too long to wait.

Do something about that will ya?

hey-one day at a time! just got him in today-find me a female like him! ill have some babies in probably 6 months so we will see how they look. could be a co-dom trait and i get half all black babies. if they all come out the same color-i guess it would be pretty safe to call the hets...? dont know if i will be selling many of them though. ill keep the site posted.

It looks like a combination of poor incubation and poor husbandry. Being housed with males may have effected his color. Can you snap more pics of his back legs and tail? I breed alot of redfoots, I think it will be pretty cool. I dont see calling them black foots becuse his feet arent black. very cool if it really is a Melanistic

not sure on locale-though he is over 12 inches long. here are some more pics of his feet-what gets me is that the areole are black as well...i have never seen this paired along with an ivory colored head and carapace...regardless of what mutation he is it was a good purchase in my opinion. here are some pics... thanks

thats what i thought. I will post pics of my male. he is a captive born colombian. his back leggs and tail are all black. The front has only a little color. And his shell has very little color. I am almost sure if he has split scutes like yours there would be even less. another shot of the head would be cool to see, try takeing it with out a flash. I will post pic of mine so you can compair.

do so. i mean i have seen some dark animals that all seemed to be just ugly individuals to me-but this one is like none other i have seen. i have email pics to several very reputable sources who all claim that i have something unusual and worth purchase. we will see. if this is just a darker colored specimen-when the babies come out they will be drab in coloration. but if the babies come out looking like the mothers then it will be a different story. post your pics though, i am interested

here are some more pics-none of my pictures are taken with a flash-just letting you guys know. he is with my two adult females you can compare colors to normals.

Dang, now I wish I still had my big ol' redfoot. Those scale patterns don't seem to match up exactly. I'm still not positive he's not some sort of hybrid. He's still really cool though and when you get babies from his line I'd be interested.

im positive he is not a hybrid-but if the thought was to cross my mind-which it did before purchase-what would he be a hybrid between? really, the only animal that a redfoot could cross with and still maintain the shell shape, head shape, and plastron shape would maybe be a yellowfoot-but even then there would be major differences. we will see though, his babies will be cool regardless of how they come out. all i can say is that if they come out looking regular ill start to get excited. if this shell/skin color is just a locale thing then the traits would be visibly passed down to the babies. who knows-we will in about 8 months or so once the babies hatch out-that is if they breed. he is definately something unusual.

He is pretty cool. I would love to see a pic with out a flash . See how the flash bounces off their heads.
there is no flash! not even in the first pics. it was on auto-flash but being outside it was not sparking-on the second go around i turned the flash completely off. ill go get him, take him inside, and shoot a pic of his head. give me 5 mins.

Whatever he is, he's still pretty neat and I'd like to know what his babies look like when they start hatching.
