In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Links to a 3sec and 7sec video of my female black pine snake acting testy. The short clip is about 3sec and 922k, the 7sec clip is ~3MB. When I choose a secondary web hosting site I'll upload the original, error-free AVIs.

CAUTION: I had to convert these from AVI to MPG2 to reduce size and upload to my ISPs website. This conversion MAY cause Windows Media Player to hang at the end of the video. If you play these inside Internet Explorer, it may hang as well causing all open pages to be shut down.

short clip 922k 3 seconds

longer clip 7 seconds ~3MB

Reminds me of my make '04. The only way I can handle him without getting tagged is to just reach in and grab him without "warning" him first. That looks to be an '04. I would skip the glove. That is probably causing her to freak out even more than just your hand.

The bite isn't that bad from one that size.....

She's an '04 too and like that with or without the glove. The glove is a cheap cloth one and she still nicks me thru it. If I reach and grab her it takes a few minutes for her to get her attitude going. If she sees me coming I may as well put the glove on before grabbing her.

the whole clip is 40sec. I don't go out of my way to aggravate her but wanted to make a short clip. Dean's technique of just grabbing her before she has a clue is SOP otherwise she has her hissy fit. The male is absolutely docile.
Are your het pied pines adults? If so, what would an unprotected bite feel like? Just curious about the biting power. My guess is a defensive strike would be like a bad cat scratch but not sure what the affects of latching on and chewing would be.

I have never been hit by an adult pine, but I have been tagged by adult bulls.

They hit like a ton of bricks! Probably the hardest hit pound for pound of any snake I have ever worked with, including BCC and Burmese.

I back that up! The only other snake that has hit me harder is a blood python.
