In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello
I keep ground skinks and ocellated skinks . Recently saw some interesting skinks for sale called Peter's and Sandeval's writhing skinks .
I cant find a single piece of info as to their care so havent ordered them yet.
I would like to know if anyone has kept either type , if so looking for care info day/night temps, enclosure set up,etc?
Thanks
Luis

I think you're going to have a hard time finding much info on these guys. I've seen the ads for them, and they look like they have adaptations for burrowing. Since you have experience with other skinks, I imagine that with a little bit of experimentation you could get them established.

I'd try a substrate like bed-a-beast as it is easy for burrowers to dig through and easy for you to vary the humidity of until you find a humidity level that works well. You could also put in a basking light that would shine on something like flat rock, I'd shoot for temps in the low to mid 90s on the rock. This way, they can burrow under the rock or bask on top of it. If you see them out a lot basking during the day, you might want to consider UV. Conversely, if they seem to avoid the hot end, you could remove the lamp and try them at room temperature. I'd try small crickets for feeding. If those don't work, try small mealworms. I've got a CA legless lizard, it is almost exclusively fossorial and so far has only taken mealworms and other small burrowing insects I've collected.

If you do decide to get them, post about your experiences as they would be a valuable reference for others interested in working with these and other similar species.

Good luck!

Thanks. They are sold out but maybe for the best as I couldnt find anyone that has kept them tho I imagine they could be kept as 5 lined skinks.
They looked like a small type of skink which is what attracted me to them as I prefer small skinks .
Thanks.
Luis
