In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

First, I just received 2 very pretty little female normal corn snakes.

I love them, but I was a bit disturbed as to the way they were packed. both were in the same deli cup, otherwise it was a good job. I have heard it is dangerous to pack to corns in the same container since they can be cannibalistic, so that is why I was concerned. Is this really bad or not?

Well corn are not canabalistic, they can be housed together just fine. Shipping is another matter. Myself I would never ship reptiles together at all, it is just alot safer to package them seperatly. I package and label all my reptiles seperatly no matter what they are or how small they are. I just received two baby boas shipped together, although the rest of the packaging was perfect I did not like that they came together either. Shanell.

Your mistaken. Corns USUALLY are not cannibalistic~ BUT are sometimes very opportunistic feeders. In my limited exp I have seen that baby corns are more likely to take the opportunity to feed on a cage mate than older corns are. I have seen it myself~ and I have seen several pics.

Wow my bad then, thanks for the info. I have never herd of it in corn snakes. Either way still package seperatly. Maybe next time you order from anyone ask them to make sure they seperate your order for you. Shanell.

I have received many (too many) corn snakes in my time. On many occasions I have received more than one corn in a deli cup even from some of the bigger breeders. I have never had any problems with one getting eaten in route. Though I am not saying there is not a possibility of it happening. There are many accounts of cannibalism with corns, but I have not ever heard of it happening during the shipping process.

oh, wow!

The girl I got mine from said she keeps all her female snakes together. The babies I got from her are about 3 months old each, but I do have them separated now. I don't want even a chance of something happening!

Really now. How much is for deli cups? I mean come on now.
If you can't afford a deli cup for each animal, you should not be shipping.

I have sent out as many as four snakes in one box and they were ALL in seperate deli cups.

I recently shipped a guy 2 female leos. They were shipped in seperate deli cups. Should I have put them bith in one because female leos can be housed together? No.

I would be pissed off if I ordered multiple animals and they were not in seperate containers.

I once got 6 snakes from the same guy, they were ALL in seperate deli cups.

There is no excuse for trying to save fifty cents when shipping animals.

It makes NO difference.

Package them individually.

Crap like that gets ovelooked too much.

No heat packs, no cold packs, re-used snake bags, not packaged individually, it goes on and on. But oh wait, a big time breeder did it so it's OK.

No it's not.

Do it right. I don't care if it's 1 snake or 1000 snakes. If I am paying for the shipping, then you better make sure they are shipped in a way to avoid any potential mishaps.

You may have no control over how the shipper handles the package(s) but you have all the control over how well they are packed.

I think live animals should be well packaged individually as well~ but whats wrong with re-using a snake bag? If it's been through the clothes washer~ why throw it out? Why not re-use it?

I save yogurt cups all year long. In hatchling season I use the yogurt cups for just about everything. You can get reluctant feeders to eat in a tiny cup like that. When I sell a hatchling I use the solder iron to put a couple little holes in a yogurt cup and I send the baby home in that. Last year I sold a guy several hatchlings (20 or 25 in one lot I think) I put the babies individualy in yogurt cups, taped the lids to be sure they were secure, and loaded them in an insulated box. I got MANY more little yogurt cups in that box than I would have 4" deli cups. They work great~ they are opaque and seal nicely~ and FREE as I would have eaten the yogurt and thrown the cup out otherwise.

Proper packing with heat/cold packs, insulated box and individualy should be expected. But I have no problem re-using perfectly good equipment such as a snake bag (or a box if it is in good shape).

Just my opinion. Waste not-want not!

Well, that didn't come out right.

I mean if you are getting a large order, the logistics are being worked out beforehand anyways.

But a small order of 1-10 snakes to a hobbyist is IMO different.

We should not dismiss things as OK just because larger breeders do it. Lately, I am losing faith how some of the larger names in the biz are conducting themselves.

I got a 20 lot of BP's 2 years ago. They came in seperate bags. So it can be done.

My main point is that there should be some discussion on how the animal is shipped so there are no surprises.

Oh well, time for bed. I'm just too tired and cranky to make any sense.

If it's been through the clothes washer~ why throw it out? Why not re-use it?

No. That's fine.

I am referring to re-using dirty bags.It has been done and I was one of the unfortunate recipients of that. Really ticked me off.

If you wash it, that great. But God only knows how long this thing he used to ship me a snake sat around with the blood and crap drying on it. Not to mention what happend to the animal to have blood on the bag.

I am tired.

I can't seem to articulate correctly tonight.

I have been considering sending snakes/ lizards in things like cool whip containers, or containers like that. I don't know where to get deli cups, since there is no deli around me, or anywhere that I know of that sells them.

Has anyone verified that the shipper is a big name? Has anyone even asked who it was? Perhaps this was a newbie making a mistake. Perhaps someone merely thought that it would be less expensive to ship that way? Who knows? No one in this thread but the recipiant so far as I can tell since the shipper, unless I missed it completely, has yet to post.

Facts, NOT assumptions, THEN crucifixtion. NOT assumptions, crucifixition, THEN facts.

Wes,

You're right
No business was named.

The big name thing in my reply was in response to the reply DAND made.

Kind went off track a bit.

That'll teach me to post when I'm in a bad mood and it's late at night.
