    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I've got a female bearded dragon up for sale for $250 and was offered a pair of redtails in trade. What does a pair of redtails (male is 5-6', female is 4-5') usually go for? Is this a good deal or would I be getting shafted on this trade? I'm waiting to hear back from the buyer on what it's eating, if it's WC or CB, and a few other questions. Thanks for you time.

A lot depends on the boas. Depending on markings, health, genetics, and so on, I have seen boas offered for anywhere from $75 to thousands of dollars, and so pix and seller reputation can mean a lot, especially for intangibles like genetics and health.
 
I'm thinking they are probably reg columbians with probably normal markings, nothing special. Pending pics and background do you think this would be a good deal for a couple run of the mill redtails? Couldn't find anything on the BOI based off email address, he didn't give a full name so I'll have to get it from him first. Going to get pics and have him ship first before I ship so no worries.
 
Well, wait for some of the boa pro's to give you a more experienced answer, but I think those are fair prices. At the top of your screen you can click on 'New Classifieds' and see the vendors on Fauna ads for boas, and I was not too far off, they have boas advertised from $75 to $5000.

I had not visited for a while, the new classifieds come with pix and there are some absolutely luscious reptiles, everything from boas to chams to geckoes...lol....

I absolutely know that you quarantine, but that is especially important with boid species.

I am excited for you and would love to see pix when you get your new boas.
 
Alot depends on what the Boas look like and whether or not the female is ready to breed. It isn't hard to sell an adult female that is decent looking. They are in demand with them being able to produce Hypos paired with a male Hypo. An average looking male is alot tougher to sell. Just to give you an idea I recently bought a really nice looking 7' female for $400 including in the price a huge Vision cage valued a $300 new. dpending on the species I am not sure if the female being only 4' would be ready to breed or not. So I don't really know if it would be a good trade or not. If you desire to keep Boas and you want a pair and they look nice to you than I would say go for it otherwise you might have an easier time selling your Bearded Dragon.

125 per BCC or BCI, I would not say you would be getting shafted at all. A good deal is usually in the eye of the beholder. It would depend on your goals. Do you want to Breed store quality Boas or something better?

 
It sounds pretty good.
You would have to see pics to decide if you want them or not.
If you each pay your own shipping (he pays to ship the boas and you pay to ship the dragon) I would say go for it.

They are CB Columbians.
 
They look like nice looking Colombians. It would ultimately be your choice. It sounds like a decent trade. The male kind of looks like an Anerytheristic.
 
I'd go for it but only if you pay to ship the dragon and he pays to ship the snakes.

Also, who initiated the trade? Was it the person with the boas? If so, have the boas sent first. After you recieve them, ship the dragon.

He initiated. I'd never ship first, I just don't trust anyone. On my terms or no trade.....

Even if the Boas were normal Colombian Red Tail Boas (BCI Boa) as long as they are in good health it seem like a good trade to me, as long as your are looking for a pair of boas. Someone could offer me the top of the line Coffee Maker worth $300.00 for a normal corn snake and if I don't drink coffee then the deal does me no good.
The Value of an Average adult female BCI boa is about $250.00, the male about $150.00 so in dollar for dollar trade it is a good trade (now I sound like an indian LOL) again assuming that everythinh is in good health. But if you are going to just turn around and sell the snakes again then they loose value because you have no history with them. They become animals that just go from owner to owner and many people would wonder why (IBD?)
So if you are interested in getting a pair of boas then it is a good deal, if you are just looking to trade to resell, I would not do the trade

Thanks for your detailed response. I have always had an interest in them but have been only been buying things that are helpful to my current projects such as corns to complete pairs, female balls, a better male bearded dragon, etc. To have this come along and have something that would not only be something I want but also one more thing for me to be breeding in the spring it piques my interest. If I was offered a fair deal on any adult pair of anything that was interesting and marketable I'd probably take it. :)
