In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I placed an order at the start of the weeks. I got an email Acknowledgement, but have not heard from them since. they have not replied to my emails requesting status of the order.
These guys also have a club that they charge  $15.00 to join. This is supposed to get you a discount. Has anybody out there done business with these guys? Would you do business twice with them?  At this point i wouldn't do business with them again.

I purchased a "colored Cook's Tree boa" from them at the Sacramento show 07/27/02.  He was a bit too skinny and very dehydrated....and now he is shedding every 12 days  <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>   I personally would not recommend purchasing anything from them....although the snake is beautiful and they had a large collection of animals, I now have to question his health and his actual sub-species.  I bought him because I liked his look, not because he was labeled Cook's.  Most of us know that they are almost always mis-labeled because of ignorance or the want of profit...

I have done business with Reptile Depot, and have met some of there employees at shows. They seem to be good guys (who sell a lot of wild caught animals), and seem to know herps well. They do seem a little unorganized to me whem ordering online, or on the phone. But they do get in some nice animals.

As far as Herpfood, I would stay away if I were you. They seem to have nothing but problems. Try Grooms crickets for some quality customer service and herp food.

I personally paid $15 for a club membership a few years back when I was interested in picking up a few specimens for a project I was working on, and never received a confirmation after payment or any acknowledgement of payment whatsoever. In fact I even tried to place an order, well over $600, and never received a response! I was quite annoyed. to this day I never received a refund for my "club" membership which prooved completeley WORTHLESS. I would suggest staying far away from reptile depot and I will preach this message to anyone I speak to until I have my fifteen bucks back... :D

(Not that I really care, but its the principle!)

I just notified reptile depot via email about this thread. I'll be very impressed if they actually speak on this matter, ill be even more impressed when I receive my LONG overdue "CLUB DEPOT" membership. It's only been like, oh, three or four years....

Until then I'll definatley be sure to let everyone know what a scam "CLUB DEPOT" is...

I paid my fee in order to receive a discount on a planned purchase of over $600. Small price to pay for a decent discount. Too bad they took my money and ran. :(

Now that I think of it I could have sworn it was a twenty dollar membership fee.... I cannot recall, it was so long ago. I do remember I was looking to buy about three hundred dollars in leaftails and another three hundred in supplies and misc dart frogs for my personal collection. Obviously now a club depot membership would be completely worthless to me, we can obtain all the wc specimens we want, and probably have more on hand anyways, but I wouldnt mind having my membership refunded! Till then I'll definatley be sure to always spread the word about how they decided to take my money and run. It was one of the first online rip-offs I encountered actually... I just found it disturbing that they took my membership fee and decided that my order was not worth thier trouble. atleast if they didnt have what I wanted in stock they could have told me. Who knows why they never got back to me, all I know is I was scammed and from what I've read on the BOI here many others have been too.

It would be very nice to see them make some sort of effort to make things right, it may be very trivial to me at this point, but to the hobbyists who get scammed its the world...

I'll give them 24 hours to respond to this thread with something of value, then I'll go ahead and file a complaint..... IF IT WILL MAKE YOU HAPPY!!! :D :D :D

I've bought worms from them several times and usually have received my order in about 5 working days. One time I did have a problem because I didn't receive an email acknowledgment of my order so I didn't know if the order went through. I got no response from them at their herpfood email addy so after several tries I sent one to [email protected] and got a very quick reply. Turned out everything was fine and they had received (and shipped) my order.

We've ordered crickets from just about weekly for the last month or so. The crickets have always arrived alive, healthy in overall appearance (size, color, scent, etc). Much better than I have recieved through some other major sellers. The overcount with herpfood is significant, and the crickets appear to be packaged when the order is placed, not days or weeks before.

My only complain would be the inconsistent order confirmation and shipping confirmation. Not a real big deal, but something worth noting.

I've never purchased any reptiles from Reptile Depot - but if you buy an animal from them at a show (inspected with your own eyes), I don't see a whole lot of sense complaining about it. If you thought the animal was skinny and dehydrated (and mislabeled), why bother taking it home?

This was over two years ago, but:

He looked ok at the show, not overly dehydrated as I have seen others, but then he started that funny shed cycle and his sheds were super patchy no matter how perfect I kept his environment. Skinny and dehydrated are minor solveable problems usually. I had expected maybe his first shed to be patchy, but several and every 12 days? He got over it after a while with TLC and became a perfectly healthy snake. Is it so bad to see these things after getting home and telling people what my experience was? I wasn't complaining that I bought him, I stated why I did. I was just letting others know of what I experienced with him in the first few weeks. That is what this board is for, is it not? ;)

Everytime I get in a skinny snake I have to go through the same frustration of frequent sheds as the animal finally has the chance to put on some weight. I know what you mean. But the animal is very lucky to have someone experienced and caring as it's new keeper. :)
