    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I had seen a female painted turtle laying her eggs kind of under our asphalt driveway. Most the substrate on the edge of the driveway is class 5 so I thought I had better get those eggs because they wouldn't make it there. I had mistakenly figured that I could hatch them and then release them in our pond behind our house. The problem is I wasn't really even sure they were fertile. I did some reading and apparently they hatch in september but don't exit the ground until the spring. Well the turtles hatched and my plan of releasing them is on hold because I'm afraid that it might kill them. I know I can't sell them but any advice on what to do with them would be appreciated. There are 10 of these awesome little guys.

You know Mark, I have been thinking about your post here for quite some time. I really have no help for you. Are painted turtles a protected species in Minnesota? You may be able to turn them over to the wildlife people. Explain to them you were able to save them buy finding a better place for them to stay, than under asphalt, and they hatched. They should be nice enough to help you out and turning them over. Otherwise good luck.

Acckkkk....if they are protected and you disturbed them they might choose to prosecute you, even if you were doing what you thought best. Be very careful!

I don't think that they are protected because they have turtle races in small towns around here and use painteds and my local pet store has a display with 2 baby painteds and 1 snapping turtle. I think that I will talk to the science teachers I work with and a few camps that have nature displays (nonprofit). I will first check with the dnr and talk with them in theories. I want them to have the best chance of survival and would prefer it in the wild (I know I should have just left them alone. Hence my mistake and I wish I had just let nature take its course). Any other suggestions would be much appreciated.
