Napa Valley Snakes

I've been very happy with the snake and service I received, Evan.  The Honduran is beautiful and is an eating machine.  Snake was packaged well and shipped when promised.  Evan has responded to all my (many) questions promptly.

I have two snakes I purchased from you at the Streamwood Swap, both were outstanding, priced great, sexed correctly, and problem-free feeders.

I check out the stuff at your booth any time I go to the swap.....I've never seen anything that appeared to be less than perfect.

Evan, although I can't vouch for more recent times, I can for the "early days", back when I was at the Tropical Fish Pond. The animals that you sold to the store were healthy and problem-free, to the best of my recollection.

i dont know you but i did read somewhere someone took a nasty swipe at you..good idea posting the customer experience..not knowing someone and then seeing swipes like that doesnt help the situation out at all.
since i had not ever seen any reason posted for the swipe i passed it off as someone with a bad vendetta sort of action.

Kim, it was probably Jürgen Chlebowy you're referring to. Sometimes when Evan posted or his name was mentioned anywhere on Kingsnake's forums, Jürgen would slander him with his "warning for people to beware". I don't remember the details of his "Evan ripped me off years ago" story, but it got real old real fast.

Someone once said "strong and bitter words indicate a weak cause", well when it's drawn out over a long stretch of time that cause gets weaker-than-weak, it just turns into "crying".

Ive done some trades with Even at the Indy shows and have always been happy with what I got.

Although I have never made a purchase from you, I have seen your animals at Streamwood, Taylor and Indy and I can tell you are very proud of your animals and they appear very well taken care of. I would not hesitate to buy from you.

This is in response to John's questions. As I have said, nobody is perfect. I sold an adult female het anery honduran milk to a customer this season that I did not realize had a mild upper respiratory infection. He returned it to me. I refunded his money and the snake is here and in perfect health after some antibiotic injections I administered. He appreciated the customer service. I apologized and updated him on the snakes' improved condition. When you work with hundreds to thousands of snakes a season some will get sick just like any other animal. You can not always see or know that they are sick. I have bought perfect animals from people that had no symptoms that were in fact ill. I have also had perfectly healthy looking animals die. That is just how working with live animals goes. There is not one person who sells animals in this business who is above this situation. I have never intentionally sold a sick animal.

As for your questions about money, that is really pretty personal and really nobody's business besides mine and the person that I would owe it to. There are two old friends of mine in Michigan that I have open running account with (I get animals and pay for them later). I have been dealing with one of them for nearly 12 years, the other for 6 or 7. I have given them enormous amounts of money over the years and neither of them would hesitate to give me more animals on account if I asked. They are good friends and we have good business relationships. As for the rest of the world, there is one breeder in Europe that I got animals from this season and owe money to. I have made bank transfer payments and will have him paid soon.

If anyone doubts my paying for animals that I have owed money for, Don Hamper, Brian Barcyzk, Mark Bell, Brian Sharp, Dave Doherty, Bob Ashley and many other great people have been kind enough to sell me top notch animals and they have been paid for them. I do not think any of them would mind anyone asking them about it.

Over the past three months, I have sold about 100 animals that I produced and about 100 that I purchased. I have not had one single complaint or problem from a customer on these animals. As I have very clearly stated, if anyone has a problem they are very welcome to contact me or state it here. I do not hide or shrink from any criticism.

In your case John, you don't really know me and have never purchased from me. The situations you are asking about are other people's. That is the whole problem. People say negative things about everybody without personal basis. "I heard a guy saying that this guy is bad. I won't buy from him." That is what you see more and more of each day. That is the only reason that I defend or back up people that I know are righteous here on this awesome board.

When you have been in a business for many years you feel that you have paid your dues and proved yourself. When people start throwing out unsubstantiated stories it is very hurtful and hard to not get defensive. I do thank you John, for the compliments on my animals. I work very hard to give the customer the best quality and what I feel are exceptional specimens. I appreciate you noticing them. Evan Stahl

I forgot about the Bob Carr question. He has tried to buy animals from me with bad checks and promises of later payments. Since he has stolen from friends of mine at their pet shops, I have not let him come to see my collection and will not let him buy anything without payment up front. After he tried to cheat me on the above mentioned check I have no future use for him in any capacity. I was curteous to him the last time that I saw him at the Taylor show, but I also asked the promoters to remove him from the show and told him that I was not interested in doing business with him.

On a separate note, somebody voted that they recieved poor quality animals from me but did not post. I take issue with that. How about airing the story here?

I tell you what though John, on November 2&3 I am hosting a CB annual show at the Northfield Hilton Hotel In Troy Michigan. You come and meet me there.
