In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I get the willies thinking about it, but my husband and I are CONVINCED that we have a spirit in our apartment. He says his parents house used to be haunted, but I've never lived somewhere that I thought was haunted.

Fortunately, our spirit seems to get a kick out of teasing us, and that's it. Nothing too scary has happened until recently.

Ever since we moved in to this apartment (about 1 1/2 years ago) strange things have happened. Occasionally we will hear one of the doors open and shut, and it will seem like someone is walking around, but no one is there. It's not the same sound as a neighbors door opening. That happens most often - strange, but not too scary once we see no one is there.

* Turning on the lights - cuz I'm a scaredy cat *

One time, Eric kept walk past the bathroom and turning the light out. He got so tired of doing it that he asked me to be sure to turn off the light - yet I hadn't been to the bathroom. The whole time I had been in the computer room. !0 mins later, he told me I forgot to turn off the light AGAIN!

A few months ago, Eric was taking a shower. When he came out, he asked what I was looking for in the bathroom. When I said I hadn't been in the bathroom ...

* Lights now flickering!! Normally noisy roaches are dead quite. Hair standing on end - I'm totally freaked! *

Anyway... I asked what he was talking about, and he said he heard the bathroom door open and shut, and then heard someone moving stuff on the sink. It went on long enough that he asked what I was looking for. As soon as he said something the noise stopped. He looked out of the curtains, and the room was empty.

* Called my trust best-pal kitty over to protect me - ROFL - I'm such a wimp. *

All of that had happened and we were only semi-convinced that we might have an invisible roommate.

We had also noticed our cats acting funny recently. They'll focus VERY intensely at NOTHING - sometimes chase after it. They never really did that before. We once watched one of them stare at the wall and meow at it for 10 mins. It was sooo funny - but odd.

We had recently gone on vacation, and left the cats here. Normally when we go on vacation and come back, we get a royal cuss-out from Troi (my current lap-warmer). He really lets us know that us leaving him was not nice. This time we came back, and he could care less. I've had this cat 15 years, and any time I'm away for an extended period of time, I hear about it. He learns my schedule and gets upset if I'm late (he waits by the door). But this time he did nothing - was more interested in our bag than us.

When I went to bed, I couldn't sleep. I tossed and turned. Just as I'm drifting off, Eric comes to bed and wakes me up. I start falling asleep again, and get woken up to Eric asking if I had moved or hit his pillow. I said no, and he said that was weird (he's thinking I was messing with him). He gets back to sleep, and as I'm trying, something SLAPS my pillow HARD! It wasn't a cat going crazy, because there were no tell-tell meows, or sounds of paws hitting the floor.

When I told Eric the next day, he said that it was the same thing with his pillow. It was hard enough to bounce his head up. He no longer thinks I was messing with him. Now we are sure that we have a ghost - one that was upset we left him/her with all the animals! LOL

I think our spirit was playing with the cats while we were gone, and that's why they didn't seem to miss us.

Some of it's funny (like the cats), some harmless (lights), but some of this stuff really creeps me out.

So how do I tell the ghost of the house to cut the scary stuff and stick with the funny stuff?

sounds like an intellegent haunt, if you have a recorder, try doing some EVP work, ask simple short questions of you want to do this

you can find out alot this way, you can also tell him to quit with the creepy stuff or you will make him leave..(yes, you can do that)

You know what's funny ... after I typed this, I was SERIOUSLY creeped out. Hair was standing on end, heart racing, the works. So I said out loud this isn't funny, I don't mind you being here, but the scary stuff needs to stop. Since then, I haven't noticed any creepy activity. I still think our ghost is hanging around, just not being as obvious as before.

I experienced the exact same type of things in my step-grandmother's house. No matter how often you turned off the lights, they would get turned back on....you would hear someone rummaging through the kitchen cupboards as if looking for something quite often....and the sound of footsteps upstairs when no one was up there. I guess she said it had gone on for years, she even gave "her ghost" a name...."Pete". I guess it didn't freak me out as much knowing that he had been there for years and never done anything "scary", and he never bothered me while I was sleeping, either....

Well, I will add my two cents. My brother and his wife purchased a house that was maybe 20 years old at best. It was a huge ranch home with a full basement. They had a nanny by the name of Barb who was the typical Aunt Jemima nanny. She was big, round and the nicest person you would ever meet, bar none. She had been their nanny for 7-8 years at this point in time. Well, my wife and I were over there one night when she started telling me about some unusual things going on in the house. I am a natural skeptic and look at ghosts as being more demonic in nature vs amusing. She stated that most, but not all, of the activity took place in Emily's room which was towards the back of the house.

I, being the big brave guy I am :), walked to the back room and proceeded to speak to the ghost. I informed the ghost that I really did not believe that she was there but that I wanted her to prove me wrong. I then told her that I was going to place a book in the center of the dresser and that when I came back, in order to prove she existed, to have the book somewhere else in the room. I then left the room and by the time I got to the end of the hall, I heard a loud noise in emily's room. I immediately, now with hair standing on end, walked back into the room only to see the book no longer on the dresser but all the way across the room! Everyone else was downstairs and nobody could have gotten into that room since I was standing right in the hallway.

I, being completely freaked out at this point, walked downstairs and informed Barb of what I saw. She then proceeded to tell me more stories of actually seeing this ghost. She was a little girl barely 10 years old if that. Evidently, Barb was cooking lunch one day and saw over her shoulder one of the kids. She, without looking, told Emily to go sit down at the table as it was time to eat. Emily just stood there and ignored Barb. When Barb turned around she realized that this little girl was not emily rather it was the little girl ghost. She stood there for a bit just looking at her and the little girl stared back then walked into the dining room and disappeared. A similiar event took place while Barb was in the basement doing laundry.

My brother moved from that house almost 8 years ago but I have always been tempted to ask the new owners if they have ever seen anything as we still live by that house even today.

Griz

Just my 2 cents, but most of the time the ghost just want acknowledgement that they are there. That's why they pull stunts like that. When it scares you just do what you said you did, tell it to cut it out. When it's just trying to get your attention, give it to it. Just say, "I know your here, you can stop now." See if it works.

Similar thing happened to me and my girlfriend when we lived in an apt. in St. Cloud FL. The spirit liked to play tricks. "He" would hide our keys (found them in the freezer once), walk behind us in the mirrors, turn lights on/off, etc. One thing that "He" liked to do was to go in the bathroom while my girl was in the shower and throw her hair doodads in the sink to get her attention (the sink had a lip, they couldn't just fall in). One day it happened and spooked her a little so she yelled at him to" knock it off while i'm in the bathroom and play somewhere else". As far as I know he never went in the bathroom again.

LOL, that's funny. Though, I think I would pee myself if I saw a ghost behind me in the mirror.

I still don't feel like we are alone here, but the activity is WAY down.

I don't think the question is really "if" there are ghosts, but the one that certainly comes to my mind is "why" are there ghosts?

some things cant be explained , just know there always gonna be somewhere, but like he said, just ask them to please leave you alone or cut something out, and it helps out sometimes. good luck with your new friend lol
