In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have looked at several ads for snow boas with eyes missing. Is this a result from inbreeding weak bloodlines, or just a common accurance? :bomb:

Check a thread "bad eye albinos" in faunaclassified's genetics, taxonomy and hybridization forum back around 7/24/2004. Then you will know as much as I do about the problem. I've got a lot more questions than answers.

Bill & Amy,
It's nice to see that you guys joined Fauna. This is a wonderful place to meet like-minded people and I'm sure that you will enjoy it here.

I know that we have previously discussed this, but it is an interesting topic.

The missing eye phenomenon in albino boas surfaced very early on in the development of this morph. I won't profess to knowing the underlying genetic defect that causes this, but it is my understanding that when this morph first became readily available, many people were breeding albino to albino and sibling to sibling in an attempt to get into the market quickly.

Very few individuals opted to take the time to outcross the bloodlines to strengthen them. It wasn't long before the one-eyed albinos had become somewhat commonplace.

I haven't noticed as many being offered in the last couple of years, but I'm not certain of the reason. It's possible that the more prudent breeders have managed to introduce more of their strengthened bloodlines into circulation, or just that the one-eyed animals are not offered as quickly now because of the stigma surrounding them.

Regardless, as you seek out a breeder to work with on albino bloodlines, I strongly urge you to ask a lot of questions and only deal with those who are very forthcoming regarding their bloodlines.

Good luck in your search.
