    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi all!...I will be getting a kenyan either this Tuesday or next and I seem to have gotten some conflicting information....some sources have said to use a humid hide, others haven't said to, and others have said not too....lol So what's the real deal? Should I use a humid hide?...if so, should it be very humid or just slightly? Also, I am used to leopard geckos and this will be my first actual snake...do these guys need any dietary supplementation? I haven't seen supplementation mentioned on any caresheets. I would really appreciate some advice!

Thank you!
Christina

I have had a pair for over a year and the only moisture I keep in the cage is a small water dish. I do spray the cage some when they are going into shed (you will know by when their eyes turn blue just spray the cage at night some until they shed). Some people only put the water dish in a couple times a week. Use sand or aspen for substrate and when feeding put them in another container at least until it gets bigger. Other than mice no additional supplements are required. Hope this helped.

kenyan

yeah, he's pretty much said it. make sure you dont have too hot of an uth. if you use a humidity box, dont keep it in there except when they're in shed. i've never misted cages or used humidity boxes with kenyans. when they are about to go into shed i just put in a much larger water dish with a screen top or the larger dish with a solid top if there is very low humidity outside.

I concur with what Otter_23 said. Some of my water dishes have space underneath them and I have noticed that the sand boas that have those water dishes prefer to hide under them. Even though they have plenty of aspen to hide and burrow in, they still prefer hiding under those dishes. I'm going to change all the dishes to the kind with the "hides" underneath in my sand boa cages.

Thank you! I do have aspen bedding. I had a giant cardboard tube (3" or so diameter) that I cut a 8 or 9" piece off, cut in half, and made a t-shaped thing out of that I put beneath the substrate so that he will have a little premade burrow to go in if he wants :) ...since they apparently do like using pre-made burrows...correct? Right now I'm working on getting the temps right...the aspen kind of locks in the heat and alters the temperature from what it would be without it....so I have to fiddle to make sure I get it to a good temp. in the warm area. Thanks again!
