Pentagon51, aka Don Virden/Luttrell

Well, I debated about whether to bring this to Fauna since it occurred on Reptibid but the individual involved stated he was a registered user here so I felt that alone justified alerting you. Here is the situation the way it stands today:

On October 20, I was viewing an auction on Reptibid by Pentagon51. He was selling domain names and had the typical spiel in the listing about how these web names are worth thousands etc. I then checked out the Q&A section of his auction and noticed that he had made a reply on his own auction without any provocation from another member. Evidently, the picture he was using to lure people to his specific auction was an image of Tom Burke’s blood boas. Tom was alerted to this fact somehow and had emailed Pentagon51, now known as Don Virden, that the picture was copyrighted and to please stop using it. Don, in his infinite wisdom, decided to make a very pompous post on his Q&A (keep in mind that Tom made his request via email so nobody even knew about this request until Don made his comment on the Q&A). Here is a verbatim copy of the Q&A:

I then replied to his posting, as did several other people, that his pictures were in fact copyrighted as this is a protection extended to every person’s pictures in whatever media they decide upon. Don did not like this and proceeded to inform me that unless Mr. Burke paid to copyright his material that his pictures were fair game.

I then responded back with a copy/paste section of the governments website talking about the various forms of media and how they are protected immediately upon creation. Shortly after posting my comments I receive the following email:

The very next day I start receiving emails from Gay Porn sites informing me that my email address has been signed up to receive daily gay porn pictures (keep in mind that I would receive an email from Don and then one from a porn site, then one from Don etc). I also starting receiving emails from NUMEROUS search engines stating that the site www.#uckyou#sshole.com (a few letters left out by me to not offend) has been registered to my email address. He then submitted this website and my email address to just about every search engine out there. When the porn emails first arrived my 6-year-old son was sitting at my desk! Here is a copy of a few of the emails I have received:

In a prior email/post, Don requested that I call him if I felt the need so I did. Granted, at the time I called, the porn email had just came through with my son sitting right here so I called him right away. He did not pick up so I left a voicemail. My voicemail was very firm and left nothing to his imagination regarding me being able to find him (he has alluding that we cannot track him down). He then starts posting on Reptileforum that I am leaving him multiple harassing phone calls etc. I called once and only once. In the voicemail, you will hear that I am very firm, that I mentioned to him that my children saw the porn emails, and that I will track him down. He mentioned in several of his postings that I cursed him out. I used the word Ass once. I simply stated that instead of acting like a professional he chose to act like an Ass. He keeps alluding that this recording is only a partial recording and that he is not going to put the rest up for the world to hear. The fact of the matter is that you are hearing pretty much the entire recording. The total length was around 45 seconds if memory serves me right as I needed to get out the door to take my son to Gong Fu class. Anyways, having been in the insurance business for far too long, I think I know better than to make threats via voicemail.

So, I then place a post on Reptileforum, seen here --> http://www.reptiforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=880&page=1&pp=10 about this incident. I also mentioned that the emails I received had IP addresses on it. At this point in time, it was my thought that these addresses probably matched his but I was leaving that up to the Admin to figure out. Don then replies back that he is not sure what an IP address is but to the best of his knowledge these numbers don’t match anything of his. Here is his post “Quote:

At this point, both the admin and myself were at a loss as the IP addresses were from various parts of the country. Neither of us understood how this could be other than the possibility that he had some friends do this. However, after some research, I found out exactly how he was doing this.

Don is better-versed at computer programming then he ever let on in the ReptileForum thread. Do a google search on his email address of [email protected] and then do a google search on his user name of pentagon51. He is out of Fresno California and you will see that these are indeed Don. Not only will you find that he runs a pyramid scheme, and spams multiple forums with his website, but he also is very well versed in computer programming. Let me briefly explain what this program will do. When you build a website you obviously have to submit it to search engines so that when people do a google search it will show up. Now, search engines operate off of the “hits” theory. In other words, the more “hits” your site receives the farther up the page ladder it will be. So, if your site receives 5 hits a month you might be on page 100. However, if your site receives 100 hits an hour you might be on page 5. Obviously, the farther up the page ladder you are the more likely your website will be seen. Most of us do this the legitimate way through advertising etc. However, if you want to be dishonest then the way you can do this is to utilize a program like Alexabooster (also something that he uses), and then design it to meet your specific needs. This program goes out to the net and captures various IP addresses of the millions of users out there. The program then takes these unique IP addresses and sends them to the “hit” program of these search engines for your specific site thus increasing the number of hits the search engines associates with your site thereby taking your website from page 100 to page 5.

The other bonus of this program is that Don can capture any IP address out there and send these addresses to whatever website he wants thereby registering my email address under an IP address that cannot be traced back to him. Hmmmm…. I would say the case is solved at this point as to how he accomplished this. When you do the search above on his user name, you will find Don’s name being used in various forums indicating not only his vindictiveness but also his tight association with some of these people who are running matrix programs etc.

I did file an Epolicereport with the City of Fresno but just today found out that because his assault on me was via the computer that the epolicereport was not the proper way of filing the report. I am waiting on Officer Delone to call me with how we need to proceed. I also have another meeting with our local PD today regarding this situation. I do not know what is going to come of this but the simple fact that he provided my child access to pornography is motivation enough to follow this through. My son started home schooling when he was 3 years of age and his reading comprehension is remarkable. I just hope that this particular event does not bring about any questions etc. I guess only time will tell.

Anyways, I realize this is a lot of information but again, I felt everyone here needed to know about this guy since he states he is a member (although he pompously tells us that we will never know which member he is). Ken Harbart, Cat_72, Critical Bill, Varnyard, Bighaze, Greg Holland etc all saw the above take place and read his Q&A, which he has now taken down. They can attest to the type of guy he is.

Lastly, he has used several last names such as Virden and Luttrell. He stated in the post on ReptileForum that he just changed his name earlier this year to Virden but that was quickly proved a myth. He uses both names interchangeably depending upon the situation and website, some as recent as the past few weeks. Here is just one example of me catching him in this lie that was in his Q&A:

“But back to the question. You changed your name huh Don? Is it Luttrell now or Virden? In the Q&A section, dated 10/21 at 4:42pm you tell everyone that your new name is Luttrell but on this very forum you stated it's Virden. Can't keep your lies straight Don? Your pattern of deceit is going to come in real handy on Monday. By the way Don, did you notice that your auction has been viewed over 11,000 times? Do you really think that those views are in support of yours?”

Last but not least, the leg he keeps trying to stand on is that I am somehow harassing him. His emails outnumber mine by almost 2 to 1. In addition, he has posted 41 times to my 12 on that ReptileForum thread.

If this helps even one person from dealing with this guy then it was worth it. I wish you all luck.

Yep, the guy appears to be a certified loon. What he's doing selling domains on Reptibid in the first place is beyond me.....but for him to go off on you like that and to do all of the crazy things he's been doing, I'd say he's DEFINITELY one to avoid doing any sort of business with.

This guy also uses other people's emails to sign up for porn sites dont forget that.

I am not here often. I wanted to say that IMO, this guy has shown that he is infact a liar, and a thief as well! I wanted to come here and back Bob/Griz up due to the fact that this guy has shown that he is less than honest. He has in fact made statements that he did use pictures that he did not have permission to use. When asked about the pictures, he stated that he really did not care, he was going to use them. IMO, this shows very little respect for the owners of these pictures, or fellow keepers, as well as proof of him being a thief. Also he has stated many lies as well on the treads in question. IMO, he is the type to infact send porn sites to Bobs child. I have children as well, and I do understand Bob and will back him on this! As a fellow keeper, seller and buyer with a perfect record, I would erg fellow keepers not support this person. He has pr oven to be less that what is needed to be a fellow member here, or the herp community.

I can't believe this guy is that stupid on so many different levels! This sick cyber stalker needs to be stopped. Have you reported this to the administration at reptibid? From what I can see here, the IP that was used to register you on to all of those porn sites places the the registerer in Los Angeles, CA. Do you have any other info on the guy?

Yup, I did give it to the admin and he was banned as of yesterday. From what I can tell, he has now logged back in as exoticboas, and has decided that I should pay a price not because I was hard to Don but rather because Don is African-American. Here is just one of several excerpts:

Why we needed to know his skin color is beyond me but he threw it out there. He also mentions a lawsuit which I questioned him on. He then responds back stating that it is Don who is sueing me because I bet him at his own game. If only I had a million dollars for everytime someone said they were going to sue me. I'd probably have a million dollars right now!

I would agree with you Bob. He does sound like the same guy. Basically, he displays the same type of foolish mentality. His logic is way off.

I will say this. I have done 2 deals on reptibid, and they were both very unsadisfactory. And after what I have consistantly seen over the last year and a half, I will not be back for a third try.

Something about this really bothers me. You can learn so much about this person in just those four words. What exactly is there to be proud of here, and how is it even relevant to anything anyway? Did he accomplish anything to become black? No. He was just born that way by chance, NOT by any of his doings. So he's black, big deal. Who really cares? Bob is very tall. Should Bob put "TALL AND VERY PROUD!" at as his sig line? or how about short people, pretty people, ugly people, or handicapped people? Don't people get it. It is just how we were born, and it is no accomplishment of our own. If I were to put "WHITE AND VERY PROUD!" as my sig line, there are those that would call it racist. Well, there is no difference with our friend Oniel. I am white, and I am neither proud of nor ashamed of it. It just simply is how it is. It was not due to any choice or effort on my part, so why should I be proud? I really wish people would take their foolish pride in things like this and just flush it. Apparently the concept of humility is something Oniel is not familiar with. You can embrace your culture and enjoy it, but I see no logical reason to be proud of it, or ashamed of it for that matter. I personally happen to fascinated with different cultures and I enjoy learning as much as I can about them. I appreciate our differences, but I feel NO need to focus on them. It just serves to drive the wedge of pride in even deeper between the different races.

Yes, this could be looked as off topic, but I think it helps to explain a little about the mentality of this individual. He is selfish and ignorant in that he would support (or actually is) a person that would steal someone else's photo and use it for their own purposes. He is downright sick in that he would take amusement in the act of sending Bob porn and the fact that his children saw it. He is prideful with no reason to be, and it is actually he who is the racist, which also makes him a hypocrite.
