In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I was wondering if anyone has ordering from Disposable Cage Liners out of MD? What is every ones opinions on how well they work both for large snakes in 4 - 8 ft cages, as well as smaller snakes like ball pythons?

Thats all I use is the DCL's.. I am all about making things simple and automated and pulling out one liners, chlorhexiding and putting in a new one works for me:)

I'm using the corrugated paper, too. I have it in most of my "real cages", as well as in a bunch of my larger sterilites. I have found that it molds before becoming soiled in my blood python cages, though :uhh:, (and I don't have the humidity as high as I should)...I'll be going back to mulch for them. But for my anacondas, womas, dumerils, diamond intergrades, etc, it has been great

I have a fairly large collection, and I'm always trying to find ways to cut down my work time. I tried the liners from them. They are a good price, the service was great, but the liners just did not work for me. First off, when a snake deficates on the paper, you need to take it out right away, or it really molds quickly. However, the biggest problem I had was if a snake dumps his water, the paper is so good at soaking up the water that the entire paper becomes soaked in just a few minutes. Most of this resulted in me having to change the papers daily, instead of just leaving a small damp spot in the cage from being soaked up by the aspen bedding. It's a great idea, and would most likely work for most people, but did not for me. I'm tempted to try them again, now that I'm paying my kid to clean the cages for me. :hehe:

Ken, I've had the same experience with the water spillage...except that my anacondas manage to do it just about every time I put water in, lol. They are in 4x2 pvc cages, so you know what changing the paper involves. At first, I tried to keep on top of that part...I just leave it now. With the flexwatt underneath, it dries pretty quickly and gives them a humidity boost for awhile. Funny, but I've had no issue with mold in those cages. I think I do with the bloods because they are in a temp controlled room (no extra heat to dry them quickly)...it might be because 2 of them always start to urinate when I pick them up to put them back in their boxes. My guess is that a small amt gets on the paper once they are in, and that is where the mold develops. I'm still switching them back to mulch.

I use those liners off and on. Well, I use that material, not the liners from DCL actually. It's indented kraft paper, and I ordered it in a 360' roll from a shipping supply place. A 24" wide roll ran $30 shipping and all.

It works fine, but I'm not so pleased with it I have ever switched to it exclusively. I still use newspaper more than I do the kraft paper overall.

My guess is that I get mine from the same place you get yours...I still use a lot of newspaper, also. I like the fact that the corrugated paper easily covers the floor space of my cages, but am not thrilled with automatically having to change the whole thing when it gets soiled...spot cleaning is pretty much out of the question, in my experience, due to the tendency to mold.

Just noticed that this discussion seems to have drifted more to the product than the company - I have ordered from DCL, and it was an easy transaction. He was willing to use a different shipping company (I refuse to use DHL as a shipper or recipient). Shipped when he said he would, though there was a few days delay from the order/payment to shipping...but when I told him I was placing an order, he told me what day he would ship, and that's how it happened. I am comfortable recommending him. (Further discussion on the product itself is better suited to a different forum, I think...perhaps Caging or General Herp Talk?)

I tried to order from DCL but when I was given a total for my order the shipping cost seemed excessive, when I inquired about this the attitude was basically "take it or leave it" and a rant about how the profit on pre-cut liners was basically not worth the effort blah, blah, blah so I canceled my order and found an alternate source through a reccomendation of a BOI member that was much cheaper and easier to order from, PM me if you'd like the info.

I used these liners for a while with my boas. The problem I ran into was that they would rather hide out under the liners than in their hides. This meant that when they poo it was under the liners rather than on top of them so they were absolutely no help in cage cleaning. I've switched to newspaper exclusively now. As far as customer service everything was fine in that aspect. Good luck. -Chris
