    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

hey everyone.
im new to this site because my favorite pet store closed here in desmoines ia. it was called animal link. they are the owners of animalplastics. i have bought all my reptiles from them and also all my supplies and cages. iwas disapointed they closed down cause when ever i had a question, i just called them up, and they had an answer for my every question.
but now they are so busy making all these wonderfull cages for us, they decided to close down the pet store after like 10 years, or close to that.
so im gonna come to you guys for all my questions cause this is a wonderfull organization.
my first question is what is the best herp to breed for a first timer?
i have 1.0 tiger retic, a 0.1 normal retic, a 1.0 whitelipped python, a yearling brazzilian rainbow,(unsexed cause to young) a0.1 burm, a0.1 ball, and last of all, abeautifull garter snake that i saved from the jaws of a cat!
should i get them all a mate, or invest in somthing else to start off?
and whats easier to breed, boas, or pythons?
thanks for your time everyone who reeds.

Welcome to Fauna;
I can't answer your questions about breeding but there are many knowledgeable people here.
I have a suggestion, that you go to the forums and ask about breeding as you may have more people read your post in the individual forum that might have experience with that particular reptile.
Good luck, and we are glad you are here.

Ball pythons are the easiest to breed. They lay around 10-16 eggs, just the right number for a beginner.

10-16??? I think it should be closer to 4-10 eggs(on average). :)

I second that on eggs and

not really the easiest to breed ( my opinion though ). I 've heard of large clutches being 7 to 10 but norm clutch seems to be 4 to 6 eggs ( mine ). If one was looking for larger clutches in pythons, burms , retics, african rocks but there goes your smaller size on these. Even boas have more neos than most ball pythons but of course not of eggs but live birth. And I consider boas a lot easier to breed than ball pythons.

I appologize, I am still just learning myself. I thought I read on NERD's homepage they laid around 10-16, I guess I was mistaken. However, ball pythons are one of the easiest snakes to breed, in my opinion. Live bearing snakes such as garters and boa's have their benifits such as not needing to incubate them.

thanks everyone for your opinions. i think im actually gonna purchase the 100% het albino retic in the python adds and breed her with my tiger retic
once again thanks, you guys are awsome.
