View Full Version : Best substrates for hogs?

any opinions? I have long worked with carefresh with all kinds of animals, mostly rodents, but how is it for snakes? anything better? I always have problems fully cleaning up poop and messes with most substrates.

I use aspen for my hognose snakes. They prefer a substrate they can burrow in.
Care fresh might be fine, I know several breeders that use it in their collections. I don't because of the expense considering the number of cages and racks I have in use.

i use calcium sand....she can burrow in it and its digestable...even though she doesnt eat in her tank..but you know....and you can always see the poop..its very clean..i love it....and its so easy to clean with the pooper scooper.
