In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

So this is how it works...

if you answer a question right, you then get to ask a new one....

...so on, and so on.

i'll go first:

do all reptiles have the same intestinal organs as humans, such as liver and kidneys... etc? if not, explain.

well seeing how snakes deficate and urinate with the two coming out mixed up with each other just liked birds i would emagine that they would not have a bladder to speak of.

correct! all vertabrates of higher order generally have the same internal make up... with some exceptions.

discus... would you like to go next? lets try and gets something going here. :)

Is there such a snake called a snow snake ?
explain....

I know the answer do you ?
No cheating and looking on line ....LOL

sounds like your confident about that one coyote... i have heard that certian monitor lizards produce venom. not sure about a corn snake.

do you pass coyote... or shall i ask the next question?

OK... so i will go since i got no response.

how does UV radiation influence the metabolism of calcium in reptiles?

do we share the same dependency of UV radiation exposure as our reptilian cousins?

Not really Sure

Like the title, I am not really sure about this one. I just bought my first Corn Snake a couple of weeks ago (Jack the Snake), and I was surfing for info on him. Well, I read that Corn Snakes get Vitamin D13(I think?) from the Sun. I think it helps them regulate their Calcium or something like that. So I sunbathed with him today. The first nice day of Spring for Ohio! Am I least close on this one?

good guess... but i believe that all snakes have evolved to not require UV radiation from the sun to metabolize calcium.

i think more primitive reptiles, like bearded dragons and iguanas, need UV radiation in order to "change" the shape of certain molecules in the blood that are needed for the body to use calcium.

without the suns energy these animals wouldn't be able to use calcium the way the body needs it to be used... as a matter of fact - humans are the same way. we rely on the suns energy to help the body use calcium.

the "shape" of the molecule called vitamin D3 is changed by the suns "UV" radiation when the suns rays hit the skin. this change of shape allows the vitamin to do its job properly, which is using the calcium to keep your blood and bones healthy.

so in essence, all the nutrients that are need can be consumed by eating food... but the sun provides the energy needed to make some chemical reaction take place inside the body.

so it seems that your snake really didn't need the sun bath... but rather you!

it never hurts to get some rays.

here is a link that might help... its from Ohio!! :)

sorry for the late response

In the past few yrs they have been some discoveries of certain reptiles.
One being a discovery of a venomous bearded Dragon
And another that Corns do have the ability to make venom they just lack the ability to deliver it..

i have heard the same thing with monitor lizards... after all venom is nothing more than modified saliva.

do we have any other trivia questions????

Why are reptile eggs left in position as opposed to bird eggs that are rotated?

i dont know for certian but i will guess....

since birds are warm blooded they need to be kept warm, they are rotated so that the warmth can be distributed around the egg?

reptiles are cold blooded and do not require the heat that is produced by the parent in order for the embryo to develop properly. they parent must use instict to determine where and when it is appropriate to lay eggs... ??

so i guess the reason is regulation of temperature?

that sounds good to me ...But i have no idea

But just to clarify the term cold blooded is not really used in the field of reptiles anymore i believe the term they preffer to use is (ectothermic)i could be wrong .

Can any one clarify this

sure... the better more technical term is:

poikilothermic - animals that have no internal metabolic mechanism for regulating their body temperatures.

what is the oldest reptile ever known to man?

(either caught in the wild or raised in captivity, and terrestrial or aquatic)

:raspberry

ok the oldest living reptiles are tortoises... with some living to be over 200yrs old!!

thats pretty cool!

anyone else have a reptile related trivia question?
