In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Good morning! I have a problem and am looking for some advice. I own a home based child care center and yesterday the kids discovered 2 babies and mama in one of the climbing structures. I brought the children back inside and have kept an eye from a distance. She gave birth to them around 3 pm and it is now 8 am the following morning. She left yesterday and I haven't seen her since. I did a quick search on line and found that she may have more babies in another location and that she would be back for these. But I thought she'd be back last night and still no sign of her. Does anyone know anything about jackrabbits? I'm afraid that with all the usual noise and activity around here, she is frightened and won't come back. Now what? I don't want to move them, yet I can't leave them there either. Any advice would be extremely helpful.

Thanks so much,
Aileen

Aileen, It seems that you are in a predicament. If it was me I would try my best to keep the children away from the area for another day or so and give the mother a chance to return for her young. She very well may not return. If that is the case then you can try to raise them, but then what? If it came down to it I would personally let nature take its course. I'm sorry that I couldn't be more helpful. I am sure someone will post some other options. Good luck.

Without fluids they will die very soon. If you want to raise them, get bottle feeding equipment asap; contact local rehabbers to see if they can 1)help you 2) whether they lil babies can subsequently be kept as pets or whether statute demands they be released back into the wil, after they are on their own.
Good luck!!!

Thanks everyone. I have found a wildlife rescue and rehab center a few towns away. I'm going to call there in a bit and hopefully they will have some definitive advice. I would much prefer mom returning to do her job, but if we scared her away, I feel responsible...

Anyway, I knew I could count on you guys for some helpful advice. Thanks again and enjoy the weekend.

Wild mother rabbits only return to the nest at DUSK to feed the babies. If you haven't messed with them, PLEASE leave them alone until you are ABSOLUTELY certain she isn't coming back!!!
