A man in San Antonio has been ordered to get rid of his beloved pet -- a 20-foot long, 200-pound python -- WAOI-TV reported.
Carl Schweikardt told reporters he has had his snake, Snooky, for close to 30 years. "I haven't had my kids that long," Schweikardt said.
Snooky's massive size and weight reportedly make him a fugitive within San Antonio city limits.
"According to the city ordinance, any snake, non-poisonous snake, over 3 feet long is prohibited," said Ed Wright of Animal Control.
The police were reportedly alerted to the snake by an anonymous tip. But the family refuses to simply give Snooky up.
"I'm having to stash him at friends' houses (outside city limits) that are knowledgeable enough to take care of him properly until we can figure out ... some way around the ordinance," Carl's daughter Wendy said.
