    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

As most everybody, when I visit I hit the "new posts" button. There is usually several pages, so I start on page one, read whatever threads I'm interested in, back click out of the individual threads, and it returns back to page 1 (of say 7) then after all are read I go to page 2, do the same thing then click all the way back to page 2 (and if I clicked once more it would go back to page 1 of 7) go to page 3, same and so on. I can continually back or forward click the browser button, and return to the original 7 new pages that are in my browser.
Well the past couple days when I do that, when I get done with all the reading and posting in the first page of new pages, when I back click to get back to the first page of the original 7 searched pages in my browser, it shows the "nothing found in your search" message, the same one that shows up if you hit the new posts button and there are no new posts. The 7, 5, or whatever, new pages are gone. So basically at this time I am only able to catch one page worth of new posts, even if there were more. Anybody know what the heck is going on? I haven't changed anything on my end that I know of. I download and installed an update to windows media player a while back, but don't see how that could affect anything. It sucks missing 3, 4, 7 pages of new posts.

I believe that the time limit for the "visit" is set at 30 minutes, so if you click on "new posts" when you first arrive, then just keep hitting the back button, that time runs out. So if more than 29 minutes elapses between the times you hit the "new posts" button, it resets itself to only the new posts in the last 30 minutes.

I hope that makes sense........I know what I'm trying to say, I'm just not explaining it very well, lol. I know someone posted a very clear explanation for this not all too long ago......if I find it, I'll let ya know. ;)

That would make sense Cathy. If that is the case though, it's just weird that it started doing it like two days ago. Either the time limit has been adjusted recently, or all of a sudden I'm consistently taking the full amount of time just on the first page of new posts. Weird. I'll try to search out some kind of post you mentioned, it must have been on page 2 through 7 of my new posts, as I've seemed to have missed it :rofl:

Nothing in that department has been changed that I am aware of here. That setting is a tradeoff since it seems to also control other variables in the display. Number of currently online members being one of them. So if I were to make the time limit shorter, it would be a more accurate representation of how many members are truly online. However everyone would have to be speed readers to complete reading new posts before it would timeout.

That's what I figured WS. Something must be causing my browser to reset cached pages or something to that effect. Though I don't know what's different that I've done the last couple days.

You could use a browser that supports tabbed browsing (Firefox, IE7, Mozilla, Opera (I think)). I load the new posts and just open a tab for the posts that interest me. Once I have opened a tab for all of the stuff that I want to see, I start reading them.

It looks something like this:
