    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have a 18 inch 270 gram dragon that swallowed a stone.. Kind of reminds me of the book about swallowed a fly however this is serious. I gave in about 20 cc of olive oil for a few days and it did not come out. took him to the vet and x rays showed it in the forward part of the stomach. The vet tried to get it out with an endoscope but could not find it. Therefore the question is do I risk surgery to take it out or just let the dragon grow and hopefully it will eventually find its way out. The dragon seems to eat and move fine at this time. However, should the stone fit through to the intestines I fear it will become impacted. Any thoughts?
 
Chances are if it is still in the stomach is because it cant fit into the large intestines yet, once the dragon grows to the point it can pass into the large intestines it will not be able to make it through the small intestines and will get impacted. He should have been able to find it with an endoscope if he had a xray to go by. he can also put it under anesthesia then hold it up by the base of the tail so the stone will move to the opening of the esophagus where he could find it more easily with the endoscope.
 
id say if you have the money for surgery then do it....

... if not then wait it out and the first sign of GI problems or rapid weight loss have it checked out.

the only thing i could think of is that the stone would block the duodenum... and food would become impacted.

other than that... your dragon could very well live its whole life with a stone in its gullet. :)
 
The only problem with waiting is that the stomache will continue to try and digest it with acids and cause other problems to result from that.Also if a cyst forms around it that will be a big problem.
