Where’s Samuel L. Jackson when you need him?
The “Snakes on a Plane” star could have come in handy Thursday morning as police converged on the Gates Mansion, 218 Gates Avenue, where an emotionally disturbed resident menaced his neighbors with his six-foot-long boa constrictor.
Officials said that members of the NYPD’s Emergency Services Unit were called to the city-owned assisted living facility to apprehend the outraged tenant and disarm him of his reptilian weapon.
But, as cops approached the man allegedly jammed a knife into the snake, inflicting a small injury to its lower jaw.
Police bagged the man and the snake – quite literally – without incident.
Officials said that their suspect – who remained unidentified by press time – was taken to Long Island College Hospital for treatment and evaluation.
The snake was brought to Animal Care and Control’s Manhattan office where it was treated.
A spokesperson said that the snake would remain at the Manhattan center until a licensed handler could come and remove it safely.
The handler will have to come from outside the five boroughs, since its illegal to own a boa constrictor or a python in the city limits, the spokesperson said.
