    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

This post is prompted by an ad I saw a few minutes ago. I have not dealt with hots in some time, and was curious what the "current" theory and practice is regarding shipping rear fanged snakes. While there are some that are essentially harmless (ie hognose snakes), there are others that are widely accepted as venomous...I know hognose snakes are frequently shipped via normal carriers, but what about the others? Would a boomslang be shipped via overnight carrier, or would Delta be legitimate option? If some opistoglyphs are restricted to "venomous rules", where is the line drawn? (the last time I had a "non hognose" rearfanged snake shipped, it was under venomous rules...but it was long enough ago that I don't remember if there were other hots in the box)

Comments and discussion would be much appreciated

Personally...

I find it easier to ship all snakes via Delta Dash. 99.9% of the snakes I ship are venomous so I use Delta all the time anyway. It's usually very reliable and arrives the same day as shipped. I am not set-up with any other carrier. Last year I attempted to ship some Rat Snakes and found it to be difficult to do legally or within the rules of the carrier.
I don't see a problem with shipping Hognoses or others that are not considered a possible threat. Boiga and Hydrodynastes I feel should be shipped via venomous snakes regs. I did ship a pair of adult Hydrodynastes and they definitely needed a strong wooden crate.
