In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I am going to get an order of FT rats with a friend. She shops at rodentpro, but their prices for shipping are insane! I can't imagine paying more than $30 shipping for my normal order *25-50 FT rat pups* but they would charge me $56 just for shipping, which makes the order at lest twenty dollars more than I would pay at any other place i have looked at.

The amount of animals we will be buying is not huge, I want 50 rat pups and she wants around 25 weaned, 25 small, and 5 medium.
She normally orders from rodentpro because their sizes seem to be about ten grams larger than anyone else's. Can anyone who has shopped at other places recommend a good guy/gal who has reasonable shipping and relatively large sized rodents? I just think it's ridiculous to be paying so much more for shipping than for the rats.
thanks for the input!

I am also in California (Modesto), and I've found themousefactory.com to be the least expensive, with quality goods. My order of about 200 combined large pinks, fuzzies, hoppers and adults runs about $80, including shipping, which is about $30 of the total. You'll get a price break if you at least 100 total rats; it doesn't matter what sizes, so long as the total number of combined rats is over 100. 50 pups, 25 weanling, 25 small and 15 medium (the lowest quantity that can be ordered in that size) would be $111.00 plus shipping.

I have found that American Rodent Supply is the best. Their prices are extremely similar to RodentPro. I have also ordered from RodentPro - and my last order was disappointing because the rats were dirty and just piled into rather thin bags. The last order of American Rodent that I got were in thick bags, clean, and lined up neatly in the bags. I will use them going forward.

I've had the best luck with Big Cheese rodent.....no comparison in quality, service, and the prices are very reasonable.

I've been getting mine from Rodentpro. But then again they attend the monthly all cleveland reptile show that is like 45min from me. I would see if there are any shows close to you and if anyone attends them. It might save you some money, plus give you a reason to go to shows.

"But honey, I will save $50 if I go to the show and pick them up!"

"Yes, but you will also spend $200 on new animals that you don't need!"

I have used Rodent Pro and Big Cheese. Both are great, but I love the vacuum packing that Big Cheese does. I order 6 months worth of feeders and don't have to be concerned with freezer burn. I ordered small rats and weaned rats from Big Cheese on my last order. Next time I will skip the weaned and get all small. There is not enough of a size difference to justify 2 different sizes for me.

Just my $.02

I like the fact that Big Cheese has smaller minimum package sizes for each size of rodent. For someone that just has a couple of snakes, or some that are almost, but not quite ready to move up to a bigger sized prey item, it's just more convenient.

Sorry to dig up old threads, but threads like this one sometimes need it. Currently which is the best? Still the same? Anyone went downhill or gotten better?

I use Big Cheese and was a bit disapointed with their last order. IIRC, I ordered 100 weaned (36-50 g.) and and 100 small (50-89 g.). This order was not nearly as "clean" as previous shipments, but I understand that some things are going to be cyclical.

My biggest concern with the order was that as I unpackaged the shipment there was very little variation in size within the entire group of 200 rats. Most surprising was that in several of the packages the weaned rats were actually larger than the small. I should have gotten out my triple beam balance and measured some of the packages and some of the individual rodents but I figured it was just not worth it.

Between the size and the quality I am throwing away more uneaten rodents this time, but that could also have something to do with the time of the year. My snakes may just be eating less since it was winter.

I will give them another chance but this time I'm going to have my scale ready when I unpack the shipment and call them right away if there are problems.

Hmm, from the previous posts I was thinking of switching from rodent pro to big cheese, maybe i should try american rodent supply.

American rodent supply is much much cheaper than the other two as long as you order $100+ which isn't that much really.. if not it is about the same price. As long as their product is as good as the other two I would definately go with them if I had more snakes. I don't have more snakes though so I went with BigCheese, the only one of the three who vacuum seals and has the same price as RodentPro

I've only tried rodent pro. I'll always use them unless I have problems. I place an order for a couple hundred mice/rats every 4 months. I have never had any issues and my babies are happy and healthy:)

I didn't get cheaper when I compared the two. I placed an order for a thousand pinks. Small, medium and large mice and rats. The price was cheaper at rodentpro when I compared them. My order arrives tomorrow. Casey called and emailed me today to let me know that the shipment will arrive. I like the service so far.

Could be the rats? I only get mice. Plus shipping is free to the east coast with ARS, maybe you aren't in the free shipping area. Mine came in today from BigCheese and they are very well organized/packed. I think I will go with them from now on.

If you can get them at a show it is way better. You pay no shipping. I buy Rodentpro at the Columbus, OH show and they always have sales. In October I paid $10 for 100 pinkies. In February I paid $13 for 100 fuzzies. They even packaged it in a brown bag and gave me dry ice to make the trip. AWESOME!

just a little extra...

I bought from the Screaming Pinky in TX, but they seem to be absent from the web. I am thinking of getting an order from The Big Cheese with a friend sooner or later. Will post a review if i do!

Try themousefactory.com. Their s/h to California is lower and the quality is excellent.
