    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

When I get home I am going to FL for my vacation and I plan to pick up some African Softies while down there.
Can they be kept like normal rats? I know they have a different nutritional requirement but on the average can I keep them with my rats in a regular rack? ( concreate tub rack, water bottle, food on top ).
Thanks, Blue

I don't have a "rack" of the nature you described but I keep my colony basically the same way I did when I had rats/mice. They are all in tubs with homemade lids. I provide mine with a bit of wood to gnaw on and they definitely use it!

As far as different nutritional requirements there are some thoughts out there and different methods but I personally am still feeding a rodent block just like I was to my rats/mice.

I'm actually in the process of setting up a website/forum for discussion and info on these rats as well as a way for others to track down where and whom they can't get them from. Keep an eye out I hope to have it started this weekend.

Heath,
Thanks for the tips, I will keep a look out for your site!!

Great site Heath!

I was just going to start a thread to see what a good design for ASF caging would be---but there's no need now!

Good stuff!
