    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I recently went to a show in manassas va and bought two juvenile leopard geckos one made it and looks amazing the other had a black dot on its belly and wouldn't eat I tried everything from force feeding to a product called jump start either way the gecko passed today and I am down... I would like to see if there are any breeders in northern VA MD or DC that specialize in leopard geckos ... The temperature in the tank was 90 degrees day and 85 at night the gecko used the paper towel no blood in the stool, but it did have problems shedding. I am guessing it was fairly young because it toped out at about 3 inch's. I was told by the dealer that the gecko was about 6 weeks old, but it only ate 3 meal worms in 2 weeks and I had to force feed it 2 of them. Anyway If I did something to kill it I would like to know so It doesn't happen again, but how is it that the other one is thriving its tail has doubled in size and has put on an inch in like 2 weeks. They were kept in separate tanks. Anyway thanks for reading and Ill be at the reptile show on March 25 2007 if any of you are going to be vender's.

I am a hobby breeder in MD. A couple things:
sounds like generally you did pretty good withthat guy. I think your mistake was just buying a very young gecko at a large show, who was not entirely healthy when purchased. I don't recommend force feeding per se in leos that small, but it is sometimes the best thing. Jump start, I don't personally believe to be much good. There is a lot of info here about getting picky/resistant geckoes to eat with out force feeding. You should check it out. That being said, it's unlikely that killed him, as it seems like he was ill before that. I am glad to hear the other one is doing well. I hope you have a humid hide for him, on the warm side of the tank, and a hide on the cool side. Humidity (well, actually lack thereof) is the #1 cause of shedding problems, second to dehydration. Good luck, and enjoy your leo!

Agree with Lisa

Humidity seems to be the most inportant thing with these little guys. Put a humidity hid in the warm end and make sure you kept it moist. DONT MAKE IT SO MOIST THEY CAN SWIM IN IT OF COURSE. Also, I won't sell my geckos less than roughly 10-12 weeks because of the chance they may die lessens the older they get. I sell some at shows and unless the person lives near you it becomes a great hassle to replace them. Sometimes shipping alone cost more than the gecko. Also bad for business. I know when they are young you can get great prices for them but of course if they pass away it doesn't seem like such a great deal. Tour this site. There are some great dealers here. Groovy geckos has some awesome geckos but they are in Chicago. Not sure of any in your area but ask around here and talk to the people at the shows. Force feeding puts additional stress on an animal that is already stressed. Unfortunately it sometimes reaches the point where it is the only option. It makes for hard decisions. I think you did everything right just maybe to young of a gecko. Remeber we all started out with limited experience and have lost our share of animals. Hopefully this won't happen to you again. Good luck and good herpin.....

OMG thanks for the good advice I have the humid hide for shedding set up and the other guy sleeps in there. So I'm guessing he likes it? anyway I was dispoited to loose my leopard gecko taffy he/she was a sweet little gecko I'm not much of a writer my talents lie in biology mostly I graduate from mason this may and will be looking for a job.. right now I'm working with endangered mammals I have to go to the Crc tomorrow and do an endocrine lab anyway should be extremely repetive and oh so boring.
PS do you have any geckos for sale Lisa? I would welcome a drive to MD...

Of course! I have some for sale, some for adoption, and some cooking. Oh yes, and some for me to keep lol. Why don't you give me a holler at [email protected] and I'm sure I can find a good match for you. And I stand behind the health of my stock for sure.
