    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

It seems that at least once a week now some idiot posts a thread on the BOI that has no place there.
I know what ever gets posted on the BOI is supposed to stay there but can't the BOI be moderated just a bit to remove the crap that has been showing up lately?
 
Its an absolute cesspool. Some useful information and a lot of unmoderated garbage.
 
They usually move the crap that breaks the rules. Like posting second hand information like the guy did today with Wes and Jamie.

But why any of the OBVIOUS TROLL THREADS were allowed to stay is a little beyond me. Unless for no other reason that to show the character, or lack there of, of the person who started the thread.

That is of course if the name of the thread starter is even real.

That's it exactly Sammy. usually said thread starter will show themselves to be the real scumbag, not their intended so called victim.

I've been working my tail off the last 5 days and have no time to really read any of the threads on the BOI or anywhere else on this forum.....things should be slowing down a bit and I will have more time to look at what has been going on.

The answer is simple.

You have to take a proactive role with issues like this.

You pay your $100.00.
You receive your new medallion.
Then you and the other moderators can join forces and get people like this kicked off the site (in a month or two).

End of problem.
 
Nope, I don't believe the BOI is out of control at all. Just some of the PEOPLE using it are.......... :shrug01:

Rich, i think its time for the 10.00 membership to come back. You tried it and while the advertising idea worked pretty good ( paying for ads) its still allowing these idiots to keep on posting False accusations.

So....how the does that really solve anything? In a month or two, those people can still make a heck of a lot of false posts, that are there to stay.

Sorry, but your assessment that the paid membership ONLY classified ads is "working pretty good" may be WAY premature. It may very well be that a requirement of participating on this site for a vast majority of people is "free or not at all". I already ran into that with the paid requirement to pass muster on the BOI.

I certainly haven't seen any indications whatsoever that re-applying the paid membership requirement to posting on the BOI won't create the same result it did the first time I tried it. Sorry, but you just can't have your cake and eat it too. Every choice has compromises attached to it.
 
There are always those that are going to abuse the system and those that are just obnoxius. Anyone that really does their homework is going to be able to see that fairly quickly. If someone is thinking of buying from an individual and they truely do their homework they will know the truth. Is it that difficult to ignore these trolls?
 
Whoever thinks the BOI is out of control is flat out nuts. There are certain people who will always try to push the boundaries of the system. With all the new members it just has the perception that more of it’s taking place. I mean come on, someone came on here (nameless and faceless) saying look what can be done without moderation. And yet that person still thinks that (he or she) has something to say that anyone cares to hear.

I mean why can’t we all just get along, the site is the greatest thing since sliced bread. And paying anything for fees should be our honor, and totally worth our while to participate in making this a better hobby. It should all be our pleasure to be builders of a dream, working together for the greater good.

I know Rich is doing the best that he can, and if anyone doesn’t like it they should leave or put up $50,000 buy the place and run it the way they like.
 
A couple of things about trolls.... they are always going to be here. Regardless of what you do to stop them, some will always manage to seep in through the cracks. That is a reality.

So once you accept the reality that trolls are always going to be here then you can approach the problem from another angle. It's kinda like finding out your mother in law is coming to stay for 3 MONTHS. You dont like the idea of it, you wish you could say something about it, but you damn well know you are just going to smile and say, "great honey, I dont mind at all".

That is kinda how you have to approach the trolls. The bigger the fuss you make out of them the bigger the impact they are going to have. Do your best to pretend they aint there and the 3 months goes by pretty fast.

to support myself a little on the way paid ads ARE working is, were not seeing fake ads from Gideon or whatever the like... I know they were starting to pop up all over the place, and the paid ads just overall will work.
i wouldnt say premature so much as, its seemingly so far working as a deterrent to bad ads/scams. I had also been seeing those Ipod,Sony PSP ads for awhile in the forums, and unless im missing em now, i havent seen once since you started this! so... Job well done ^_- premature or not.


Its your site rich, and either way ill still come here because its fun, and i like pretty much all of the people here. But i suppose well always see these trolls, and there will always be those who like to complain about them/ feed them. I cant say i like them, but ill do my best to avoid bringing up their threads anymore.( your ignore feature might be put into use for once on my end!) To me, thell just settle down in the dust back in the archives of the site ^_-

I hope others can control themselves and do the same. somtimes thats all it takes, once they see we pay them no mind theyll slowly go away to get attention elsewhere.

I agree with the idea that the site has improved. As much as I have to eat some of the crow I posted in other threads, it has improved. My only concern and I hope this was get worse is, the number of posted ads for true sellers decreases. I love looking (and buying) to get a better gauge of prices and what is being produced and over produced. BOI will always be a "HOT" area because unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world and someone will always feel cheated or be taken advantage of. Such is life. I will say that the negative posting seems to have decreased. This is the intent. Rich and HHMoore your opinions are now vindicated by me. (Boy I think those owrds will be used against me later. LOL)

Sammy thats why I have a futon out in the shed with the rats and the mice. If she can stand the smell she can stay as long as she likes...LOL
