In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Zilla is launching some new products and I must admit they look really nice. They dont seem to be too readily available right now though. I hope to get some to play around with in the next few weeks.

This is the first one that seems really good. (Click pics for a link to the product page)

Every other combo light out on the market now (with the exception of ZM's "Slider") hold the bulbs horizontally, and are always closer to the middle of the tank then they should be. EDIT: Actually, Fluker makes a nice combo with the bulb off to one side, but the sockets have very low wattage ratings, and I have found most people return them because they use too high a wattage and the plastic melts :(.

This fixture holds the bulbs vertically, they are located off to the sides, and you can aim them to hit certain areas! On top of that, the fixtures have a timer built in, which is a really nice feature.

It also used halogen lamps, which should have a longer life and throw off more heat.

There is this one also. It's a similar design but a very small footprint. Would be great for 10 gallon tanks or other small cages. This would be perfect for stores to sell with 10 gallon reptile setup (Like a baby bearded dragon setup) as other hood options dont work too well on such a small tank (They block ventillation and/or hold the bulb horizontally instead of vertically).

The only thing I am not looking forward to is the pricing. I am going to take a guess that these will have a pretty good price tag on them. The bulbs too arent included (Not in the combo ones anyway, I think they might be in the combo dome).

Also looks like we'll have to use zilla brand halogen bulbs since they dont use a standard socket. If they have a long life and produce enough heat at lower wattages I guess I wouldnt mind that though.

prices?

Do you know if you can order these or are they just available in a certain store? What are the prices? I checked the site but can't find prices.....

You cant order direct. You'll have to order them from a retailer (be it onlone or brick and mortar) but most stores do not have them yet. I work in a pet shop and the distributor we get form has them listed but has none in stock yet.

I will take a guess that MG reptiles will probably start carrying them once they are readily available.

I am going to keep an eye out for them at the upcoming shows in white plains NY and Hamburg PA too to see what they are going to retail for.

EDIT: Looks like alternative halogen bulbs will be available (Daylight ones for now).

Just search for GZ10 or GU10 Halogen and you'll find cheaper alternatives. I beleive the zilla brand halogen's are going to run close to or over 20 dollars MSRP. That's alot for a heat lamp!

These would also be great for anything that requires a cage with more height then width/length. Things like chameleons etc whos cages are mostly height and have less space to hang/set lights overhead.

Regardless of price, I asways like seeing something creative being done.

Same here. I dont even have tarrariums anymore, so I really wont even need these, but I like to see new products. Especially something like this that is finally designed properly.

I've worked retail in a pet shop before. I know people hate buying the seperate light fixtures. Alot of people hate the look of the clamp lamps also, especially if they are using them in their living room. I used to wind up selling the old style combo lights all the time, even though I hated how they were designed. I would try to talk them into seperate fixtures for benefit of the animal. They usually didnt care though, they liked the slim design and all in one features.

So for those same type of people, buying their first bearded dragon or other pet lizard (or snake even though they dont really need uvb) and worrying about asthetics and effeciency something like this will finally be an adequate solution.
