    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Things are acting kind of squirrelly here now because I am trying to move the banner ad domain onto a new server and it is not going well. Trying to do workarounds to get it to work, but it's fighting me tooth and nail. Of course THIS site is being impacted because it tries to load the banner ads and such, and can't connect to be able to do so.

This may be a problem over the next couple of days as I try to get this done....

Sorry....... And yeah, just wait until I try to move FaunaClassifieds to a new server.......... :ack2: :ack2:

Well I think I found the problem. The banner ad software apparently generates cache files for each banner zone on a daily basis. Some are several megabytes in size. Unfortunately the code does not clean up those old files. So I had close to 10,000 files in that folder from the past couple of years. :ack2: Probably a few gigabytes of data. No dang wonder the account transfer was choking up.........

Ughhh... I don't envy you that at all. I just went through that with my site and it was a HUGE pain in the butt. I can only imagine how big the database is here!

Heck, if I can, I'm going to try to make my leasing new servers contingent upon their techs moving the sites for me. It worked the last time..... :D

With this new one, I wanted to test out the new data center, so I needed to selectively choose some of my sites to wring it out. Making a mistake with the data center you choose can be very costly, and cannot be taken lightly. Even with all your planning and investigation, things can STILL go very wrong.

I have three servers now, and will likely continue with that configuration. The topsites scripts use up a LOT of resources, along with the advertising banner script, so I think it best to dedicate a server entirely to those functions.

And I can see where a server dedicated solely to the MySQL engine might be in the future sometime down the road.

But yeah, this is getting to be a substantial monthly bill to pay.
