I've been using Edstrom Variflows for over a year and a half with my mice with no complaints...... That being said, I have had issues using them with my rats. The rats seem to "backwash" a LOT more and gum up the valve. But again, NO issues with the mice using them. If interested I might be listing about 15-20 used Variflows for sale later today that I've swapped out of my rat racks.
