Questions about Frilled Lizards

My son is wanting a couple of frilled lizards for his Birthday. My questions are will these be an ok starter for him ( I'm helping of course ) And can they be started in a 48"L x 30"H x 24"D cage or will the cage need to be smaller. I've read articles on them and have some experience with Beardies but left the choice up to him and let him peruse my Reptiles magazines and he chose Frillies.

Any help and advice will be much appreciated.
