I have available a few captive born and bred Italian tortoises (Testudo hermanni hermanni), also commonly known as Western Hermann's tortoises, from our Tuscany, Italy groups. They are flawless and will be registered in the North American Regional Studbook for T. h. hermanni later this year.

These are the LAST ONES for 2016 of these locales. No more until 2017.

I brought the adults in myself after extensive paperwork and approvals several years ago. These are some of the most "textbook" Testudo hermanni hermanni out there and historically, most references come from Tuscan populations.

I have two different Tuscan "types" available.

Eastern Tuscany- these are a bit larger with females reaching 6-6.5" and are intensely colored with less black covering the carapace. They also flare out at the marginals a bit more.

Southern Tuscany- These are smaller (5-5.5"), rounder and have heavier black pigment on the carapace expressing more contrast overall.

Available are a temp sexed 1.1 pair of southerns for $1,150 shipped

Available are a temp sex 1.3 group of easterns for $2,050 shipped**SOLD**

I am more interested in selling them in the proposed groupings rather than individual sales. However, I will offer them individually at $650 each plus shipping, IF (and only if) they do not sell as mentioned above.

The adults that produced these offspring were genetically tested in 2015 and found to be of the purest form, so buyers can be assured they are receiving absolutely nothing less than the real thing. The genetic results also confirmed their placement in the described locales. The distinct locales of T. h. hermanni are different from one another not only by phenotypic traits but by DNA as well. They are completely separated from the common pet trade eastern Hermann's tortoise (T. h. boettgeri) by many things such as deriving from 2 totally different evolutionary branches.

Below are photos showing examples of offspring (pictured: southern Tuscany 2, eastern Tuscany 4) as well as adult females so you can see what they turn out to be. I've also included a photo of a southern female next to an eastern female so you can really see the difference (southern Tuscany on the left, eastern Tuscany on the right).

Please do not ask if the adults are for sale. They absolutely are not and there is nothing that I would trade them for.
