I thought I would share with everyone my beautiful Apalachicola Kingsnake! (And show off some of the cool features of the photo gallery)... I have uploaded these pictures to the photo gallery, and from there I get the code I want to use to share the pictures with all of you:

Here is Pandora when we first received her in February of '02:

This is Pandora 14 months later in June of '03, gravid with her first clutch (8 eggs/1 slug). She LOVES to climb into my hair and frequently I cannot stop her. I called hubby to rescue her/me and he snapped the photo before doing so:

And Finally, this picture is Pandora yesterday (day after Christmas, 2004)... I was cleaning her cage and of course, she climbed into my hair!

Yup, blotched, Apalachicola, Goini... and I heard someone say they were going to be called Meansi next, but I could be mistaken.

I'm still trying to find a male... the one I had (pictured below) died earlier this year, and the 4 times he bred with my female didn't take (!?). A new male of this kind is #1 on my "want" list.... I just have to find someone who will be able to sell me one. Or a breeding loan...

Thanks for keeping your eyes open! You're local aren't you? I once emailed Stephen Fowler and he said he had one, but never responded to my email asking him how much! *sigh*

I was just looking at some of the pictures of babies I had from my one clutch of Apalachicola's... they are so wonderful, everyone a different and unique animal, I really hope I can breed her again this year. AS you can see from the photo of her in my hair this Christmas... she's quite huge!

Yeah i am Local (Casa Grande). You really don't see very many of these around, i saw some at the Tucson show, but already spent all my reptile funds ARGHHH!!!! I have a friend in Indiana that goes to Florida all the time, so if i can get ahold of him, he might be able to find some... There are a few breeders of these guys in Fla.. Talk to ya later Mike L.

I went to the Tucson show in August I think it was, didn't see any blotched/apalachicola kings except for a couple of snakes labeled "goings" at mooressnakes but they were actually quite ugly (at least to my tastes) and only hatchlings. I'm still hoping for an adult male... it would be very nice to have one for Pandora. They are so beautiful, it's odd to me that there are so few CB or even WC ones out there!

I hope this works. These have been one of my favorite snakes for the last 13 years. I'm working on producing a line that stays red as adults. So far, my first breedings turned out better than expected.

Brandon those are truly beautiful! My female was very red when I first purchased her, and now only has a slight tinge of peachy orange about her. Her mate was very much buckskin and chocolate colored and their daughter has lost almost all red by 16 months of age. It would be nice if I could get a male for her that also retains red a little bit longer and see what happens with the babies. You don't have a spare male who you don't plan on breeding this year do you? :dgrin:

Thanks for sharing, hopefully we'll see some of this coming year's successes when it is time!
