I'm getting some minor painting done in my house this weekend.I'm covering my fish aquariums since I know the fumes can adversely effect the fish. Can paint fumes have any effect on my snakes, and if so,what is the best way to protect them?? Thanks.

Petroleum based fumes are more dangerous than latex based fumes. 'Quick-dry' petroleum base coats like Kilz are particularly noxious.

I would call the painter, get the brand name and look up the cautionary statements online.
Many latex based paints have low vocs and are not particularly toxic, although when I paint I do move critters out to fresh air until the paint has dried.

Well I dont think that they would be beneficial...... :)

As a precaution I would move them to a well ventilated room, can't hurt being safe.

Yes they are!! The first thing you will see in your snakes as a result of the fumes are CNS symptoms, particularly incoordination. Let everything ventilate for several days before putting animals back in.
