I've been doing alot of reading on feeding snakes in their enclosures. Now although I'm not new to having or feeding herps but I am new to using different substrates. I have (2) 8' albino burmese pythons and I've recently changed the substrate to shredded aspen bedding, now although I take them out to eat can the aspen create a choking hazard? It was done for cosmetics as well as it's simply easier to clean up.

I've used aspen a lot for my pythons though I am getting away from it in favor of disposable cage liners. I have never had an issue with choking, even with hatchlings, and I feed in the enclosures exclusively.

If the snake does swallow the aspen does it pass easily?

It seems to as often I have seen it adherent to the prey item. And I have never had a problem with impaction.
