My kingsnake has always been fed f/t in a sweater box. I feed him plenty so I know that he's not hungry. He has a problem of trying to eat my thumb every time I get him out of his cage. He doesn't strike it or anything, he just opens his mouth and trys to swallow my hand, lol. I was hoping that someone might be able to give me advice on how to keep him from doing this. He's extremely tame except for this problem.

Thx,
Rick

I've found that the snakes that like to try to swallow your thumb or fingers are often just "like that" ..... I would try to make sure my hands are spick-n-span before handling and hope he doesn't catch a whiff of mouse! My problem is when it's feeding time I just don't have time to wash my hands 25 times in between feeding each of the snakes, so I know the ones who are "hand munchers" and I try to have a mouse ready to just dump into the cage when it's time to feed. When I want to handle, I have clean waashed hands before handling and usually don't have a problem.
