Chicken Snake? We have some chickens and this snake to which we refer to as "a chicken Snake" will come in the hen house and eat their eggs. It's a solid black snake. I was also wondering if anyone knows what the snake is really called.

My friend in Louisiana refers to black ratsnakes as chickensnakes.

Spilotes pullatus is sometimes called "Tropical chicken snake"..

When I was a kid, what my uncle referred to as chicken snakes where speckled kings.

Oh, I saw a HUGE one yesterday in the old barn trying to go out the window...the biggest one I've seen yet o.o

In Florida, Yellowrats are sometimes called chicken snakes.

yeah people refer black rats as blacksnakes or chicken snakes but the spilotes pullatus' common names are tiger rat snakes and tropical chcken snake
