I am considering getting one of these for my son; however, I will be the primary care giver. I have a 30 gallon tall aquarium fitted with an acrylic topper, making it front opening. Had this tank specifically for frogs but just never got any further than adding the topper.

Can those of you with experience tell me what the ideal setup is for these animals (substrate, decor, heating, lighting, etc.)? Pics of setups would be great and links to care sheets or other reading material would also be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bart

I kept mine in a 10 gallon w/ lots of climbing space, a big bowl of water for soaking, driftwood and fake plants. I used Bed A Beast for the substrate and it did really well in there. I used a low wattage heat lamp to keep it at the proper temps. They are a cool pet for sure!

Make sure your water dish is shallower than the frog is tall, they can drown. I use real moss for my substrate and they love it.. I like to have all live stuff in my tanks including live plants. Make sure they are strong because White's get big, fat and heavy and you don't want them to break. Also, make sure the plants aren't poisonous to animals. Keep it warm and mist often and spray down the glass. White's are a very hardy frog, you should do great!!

Oh, I also put a layer of aquarium rocks under my moss, for drainage. That's very important so the moss doesn't get too soggy!!
