We do not need another, try staying on topic for a change. Last I checked this was about a particular person or persons advertising and the fact that some users simply do not want to see their ads displayed. Rich has already addressed this and did so very well.... Lets not turn this into yet ANOTHER "venomoid" rant..... I hate them just as much as any, but I hate seeing this crap repeated over and over again nearly the same.

Sorry Chris and Jim and others I have offended,I just haven't been able to find the real reason they do what they do,I thought someone might be able to inlightin me on the reasoning. If someone can delete my last post that would be cool,I don't wont trouble just wanting to now why. I appogize greatly, very very sorry. :unhappy:

It's OK Steve. I'm not offended. It's just that venomoids are an emotional issue and if people come to this thread to bash them then the original topic will be lost. That (I am guessing) was the reason for Chris's post.

There are many threads here regarding venomoids. Just use the search function using the term "venomoid" and you will find more info than you ever wanted to know. :p

Thank you much Jim I appreciate. I will go check it out and see if I can find my answers on another thread.

I fail to see how we went off topic (and I received more points, yawn) in discussing the fact that we don't like venomoids, and don't feel they should be advertised here.
Is $$$$ really that much of a king to you ?

bums me out, to no end !!!

I don't have a problem with voids provided the surgery is done properly.

reina is supporting and advertising some of the biggest scumbags in the industry who do NOT do things properly.

Rich you are supporting guys like CRE and all the other butchers out there by allowing him to advertise on your site. If kenny "gorrila boy" yates came back and wanted to advertise would you let him as well? What about mitch triana? Or how about bobby pruett? There IS a line. I can see a line. It seems that others also see this line. I think you must also see this line as you are not slow or foolish.

I don't have a stake in your enterprise but I have to tell you that as a long time member seeing that banner makes me, for the first time, not 100% proud to be a member here.

There are those I won't share a drink with, won't do business with, hell there are some I won't even speak with. There is a minimum standard that must be met to associate with anyone, myself in particular and reina is most definately one of them who falls FAR below that standard. I am not alone in my thinking.

However, all that personal crap aside because all of THAT has nothing to do with why I don't like seeing that banner and why I think it's wrong to advertise his site.

What he does, those whom he supports, are WRONG. They ARE the bad guys in this industry. THEY are the parasites that make things tough on all of us and you Rich, are indirectly supporting them in your LLC.

I think you made the wrong decision.

Chris@TSE 10-04-2005 11:48 AM

Rich already explained this matter....... Money is not a deciding factor. I do not agree with venomoids, but I do not think that the opinion of a majority of members warrents barring such advertising. Ultimately it is up to the owner of the site and he has made his position perfectly clear last I checked....

You know, I don't like so and so..... don't let him run ads...

or...

You know, I don't like snake snares.... don't let them run ads....

or....

You know, I don't like thermostats.... don't let them run ads.... LOL

gets ridiculous....

Everyone is going to dislike something, don't like the ads? Don't click on them. Simple as that. Just know that the advertiser you may dislike is in fact helping pay the fees associated with running a site you happen to enjoy frequenting, they may not promote something you agree with but this sort of thing happens on every site running ads I have ever encountered. Casino ads, Porn ads, free iPod ads, free credit report ads, you name it...... you're always going to encounter something you simply do not want to see or you may not agree with. The only reason this is being brought up here is the fact that this Christian guy is pretty much collectively hated and of course venomoids is a fairly touchy subject around these parts, globally disliked for very good reason!

Regardless.....

Great, you don't like venomoids. I don't like venomoids.

This is news? I think not. Granted one could argue that someone is supporting it by allowing such ads to rotate yet where do you draw the line? You have to be somewhat accepting of all aspects of the hobby I would assume. A majority of keepers dislike venomoids, yet there are those who enjoy keeping them and they should have access to information about them. I'd rather see one of these people be informed than take on such an animal completely uneducated.... That would simply make bad matters much worse but I'm one of the last people who can speak accurately on the subject. I've never owned a void and never will.

Nonetheless, Lets stay on topic. Yes we all know venomoids are horrid and they promote the worst in the hobby..... But if you want to rant about it there are literally dozens of other threats DEDICATED to this subject. This is specifically about someone voicing concerns about a particular advertiser running ads here. Lets keep it that way shall we?

Personally I may not like seeing that banner, but I can understand and respect Rich's decision as well.......

Rockford 10-04-2005 11:51 AM

Speaking of Bobby Pruett.....guess who has a crumbier reputation on this site? You guessed right......Devenomized.

Wilomn 10-04-2005 11:55 AM

Chris, you're ranting about voids and the topic is THIS particular advertisement. It's not about voids, it's about what types of ads will be allowed here. By your logic then Rich should have no problems adveritsing porn and credit reporting agencies and all that crap that's everywhere else.

THIS thread is about opinions on WHY this particular advertisement is HERE on this site, NOT about the good and bad regaurding voids.

Chris@TSE 10-04-2005 12:09 PM

This particular advertisement is advertising what? A site dedicated to information and care of venomoid animals. And since the vast majority of members here disklike voids, and this Christian guy in particular the ad should not be allowed to run?

Is this to be my understanding of the matter at hand?

Yes, the vast majority of us are disgusted by seeing this ad run, myself included!

But guess what?

I'd rather see a new keeper set on making a void purchase have access to information regarding them prior to such an acquisition rather them purchase said animal on a whim without prior knowledge.... and you know this happens with voids. Keep this information from them by tearing down ads linking to sites such as this and you'll simply have more CLUELESS void keepers. Granted most are clueless to begin with, but I'd much rather see a void keeper with a bit more knowledge....

For Rich this matter is a touchy one, again where do you draw the line? It's definitely a "on-topic" type advertisement, its not porn or something completely unassociated with the herp world is it? Granted it SHOULD NOT BE ASSOCIATED with the herp world in many of our eyes but we must not let our emotions cloud a rational judgement.

It does not make me proud to be a member on a site where such an advertisement is allowed to run. It could promote new void keepers which is the last thing I would like to see, but it could also educate those who were set on making such a purchase prior to even seeing the advertisement..... Or even educate void keepers who already own such animals and obtained them prior to educating themselves about them.

Don't mind me, its a touchy subject for all of us...... I hate seeing the ad, but I have to agree and respect Rich's choice on this one for various previously mentioned reasons.
