Our Gray rat snake project
After many years of working with selectively breeding Gray rat snakes from our area we and our partner are proud to show off some of what we are now producing. We will most likely not have any babies for sale this year. I am just in the mood to show them off a little. So here are some pictures of some.
Enjoy 2015 babies http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...psz40w2iee.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...pslvkcecat.jpg 2016 babies http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...psximmojbv.jpg Our het females http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...psuw0qvghw.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...psk9zce17u.jpg And last some of our first babies we hatched in 2015 now starting to breed. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...psulhireou.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...psglnpmag8.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...psl3ltiu1m.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...pstmajj1yz.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...psniyrlam4.jpg These are all pure Washington County Florida locality. This has been a long time coming and still more selective breeding to be done. We are out crossing the males this year to wild females to bring in new blood. Finally the Gray rat will maybe get the recognition it deserves. |
Sam, those are gorgeous - one of my favorites!

Very nice.

Thank you both very much. This project started off as trying to bring out the peach highlights in some of the local population. After years of breeding it was coming out nicely. By chance my partner switched males with the females and hit the hypo gene. it has proven recessive . We are out crossing the hypo males this year to some new blood. Hopefully by next season we will be able to offer some to other herpers.
Thanks Sam |
And when will babys be available very nice.

Sweet! I love all our (U.S.) rat snakes- I used to have grays, Everglades, amelanistic blacks, & currently have yellows (probably hybrids of yellow, Everglades & Gulf Hammocks). Great pets, intelligent, active & not too big (or heavy) to handle easily.

I think these are very pretty indeed. I love the soft peach tones in there with the grey. What are their belly patterns like?
