That's an absolutely beautiful photo! Wonderful how nature works.
Another thought: I was watching a program on the effect rattlesnake roundups have on wild populations. Because many are heard before they are seen, the louder snakes that are more likely to rattle are being caught and/or killed faster than the quiet ones. This creates a larger "quiet" breeding population. This may have no effect on herping in the East, but in the West it would. |
Interesting point Mr. Curtin. And it got me to thinking about this summers herping and how I can not remember hearing a single tail shake from any of the Sistrurus catenatus or Crotalus viridis I encountered this summer past.
