Fake out!

We're not sure how old our veiled is, but she is really putting on weight. We're not sure if it's because she was mistreated in her last home or if it's because she's gravid. We looked up gravid colors in veilds and we understand them to be; robin's egg blue spots with a stripe on the casque (We call it their pope hat :crazy03: ), along with larger yellow/orange spots and/or stripes throughout the body. She is displaying the colors noted above lightly. Is there anyway she is just playing with us and isn't really gravid? Please Help!!

I'd say the coloration, combined with the eggs proturding above her legs, are a good sign! Looks gravid to me. Put a male (or a picture of one) in front and see if she brightens the blue and yellow, as well as turns black.

Congrads!! What a cute little "mommy"!! :)

Eric,

Cool little tidbit of info!!! When they see the male and change colors is it because they're happy or mad?? Just curious...

well, it depends on the colors! If she's got blue spots, and yellow stripes, and a black background - she's letting him know she's not receptive. IF they get into the gaping mouth, swaying, hissing stuff - they're clearly not happy.
