Field Herping in Hampton Roads
4 Attachment(s)
Took some time Thursday to wander some local parks and try out my new camera. From just a few hours of hiking, I found or sported:
1 eastern kingsnake (Lampropeltis getula) 1 eastern cottonmouth (Agkistrodon piscivorus piscivorus) 1 northern watersnake (Nerodia sipedon sipedon) 2 red-eared sliders (Trachemys scripta elegans). Love this new camera. I wouldn't have most of these pics without it. |

Nice pics!
What camera are you using? |
A Nikon Coolpix L340 (in-expensive but good quality pics for a young college student)

Yeah, it's pretty amazing how inexpensive cameras these days can actually get you some great shots with no effort at all.

Great pictures and thank you for posting!
The first turtle (first two pics) looks like a mud/musk turtle, but I can't be more specific than that. The high domed shell and head shape are the giveaways. The second turtle (second two pics) is definitely a painted turtle. |
I obviously need to brush up on my turtle knowledge. Local snakes, I know by heart (mostly). Turtles and the like...not so much.
Thanks for the correction.:D |
I am impressed with the coolpix not bad at all of just got a canon t5 and so far am very impressed the new breed of digital camera have came so far. And the Macro lenses are awesome.
