Hello guys if you a tortoise collector like me, I'm sure you love to see very large tortoises, that usually don’t get that big. I started breeding Russian tortoises about 5 years ago and have lots of them and the largest ones I have been able to find have been 1300g which is about 2.8lbs. I have heard stories about large Russians that weigh over 4 lbs however I have never even seen a picture of one until I bought this one. She came in today, 10 year old captive bread 4.06lbs and over 8.5 inches long. She is not just 8 inches long; she is 6 inches wide and 5 inches thick. I’m trying to see if anyone else has a huge Russian like this. She is a beast,The largest one that I have read about was a 10 in russian that weighed in at 4.14lbs. 1969.

Wow! I've never seen a Russian that big but she's a beauty :) My two are much smaller but they are young.

Are you planning on breeding her? I'd be curious if a big girl like that would have a larger than normal clutch.
