Reptisoil?

I building a vivarium right now and was wondering if reptisoil is as good as ABG mix. It says it has carbon and moss mixed in with it. Though I would add spaghum moss and charcoal as well. It is a little better in price compared to ABG. Thanks.

Reptisoil is a lot more dense than ABG. It's more like typical garden soil and will compact with excess moisture. ABG is very lightweight, meant specifically to grow orchids, which need substantial airflow in addition to moisture. For an amphibian tank, you should probably go with ABG, but be aware it will also dry out faster and needs to be carefully monitored. Automatic misters are great (or modify a humidifier at a fraction of the cost, plenty of how-tos on Youtube and Google). I use reptisoil for reptile tanks that require less ambient humidity.

I have ABG already but can reptisoil be used in a foam background instead of eco earth/coconut husk? Thanks for the information!

I also have a mist king setup so misting won’t be a problem.
