Baby Iguanas as Carnival Prizes

The giving away of baby iguanas in NE Ohio at church festivals and county fairs is becoming rampant. While we are working with local humane officers and Boards of Health to stop the practice using regs currently on the books, I am curious if any of you are aware of specific legislation that we could use as a model, prohibiting the giving away of live animals as prizes.

The agriculture deparment, humane society, and health department are all trying to end the hobby of reptile keeping (pet ownership). We don't want help from these type of people. You can have your attorney write the church and county fair a letter to stop for 50 bucks. You can also setup at table at local reptile show to raise money for more letters.

It is this attitude that got us in trouble in the first place. Big difference between local humane officers and 'the humane society." Our local Boad of Health works WITH animal venues and is very good with permitting. They ares very positive about exotic pets kept properly and work hard to educate Wednesday I am speaking to a group of 15 animal control officers. We will workj on proper handling techniques, identification and make sur ethey are familiar with their own lawa s- local, county, state and Federal. These are exactly the people we need help from because they have the ability to make our lives miserable. If we have them on our side, we can make progress.
