I recently contact Dr. Warren Booth about helping with the DNA finger printing of these little ones, here is what he sent back...
" Hi Eric, Thank you for the email. I am more than happy to help. Given the sex of the young, it sounds like retained sperm as parthenogenesis in advanced snakes of the Caenophidian results in the production of male offspring. How old was the female when brought into your collection? What was the history before that? If you want to collect shed skins from the mother and both babies, feel free to send them through to the address below. I can run some DNA fingerprinting on these and answer your question." So therefore I will be collecting the skins to all 3 so that we can figure out what is going on :) No matter the result, I still love these little ones |
How are the little ones doing?
|
So far they seem alright. Only one has eaten on its own, the other I have been assist feeding. Hoping the feeding response gets much better.
|
Really looking forward to hearing the DNA results, now you need them to shed! Did he say anything about testing the slugs?
|
It's awesome that Dr. Booth is will to do the testing for you!!
Can't wait to hear the OFFICIAL results!! I just hope the kids start eating right!! Come on, kids!! Nom those tasty rodents!! |
Yeah, I need one skin from the mother, and I need a skin from the one with the underformed eye socket, hopefully soon!
|
As a quick update for those still interested....
Still waiting for shed skin from both the mother, and the baby that has the eye issue. Then I can send it in to Dr. Booth and we will get some answers then! Other than that, they seem to have went back to their non-eating ways unfortunately, I will soon assist feed them once again. Hope everyone is doing well |
Come on, little ones!!
Ya GOTTA nom to survive!!! You have a bunch of people here pulling for you!!! |
Not eating again? :( Not cool...
Assist feeding these little ones must be a chore. I pray they will begin to eat. |
I also pray the little ones start eating again soon.
