Skink trap design anyone?

Hi, I'm looking for a design for a simple trap to catch skinks - I'm in the Fiji islands, and the species we have are mostly small ground-dwelling Emoia species.

If no proven design, good ideas and imaginitive experiments welcome!

Thanks
Helen

A basic minnow trap design using a solid, smooth surfaced building material then partially burried would likely catch you a few.

The only thing I would caution using a similar design, or any trap, is an awareness of the tendency to end up with things other than the target species being caught as well.

A pitfall trap

will also work but as Seamus said, you will be catching other animals also.

Bury a bucket in the ground and cover it with a board or piece of sheet metal. Make sure this is kept in the shade. Actually a cover board will probably work without the bucket.

Many Thanks, I'll give these a try,
Helen
