Late summer in Caifornia

I found these on a recent weekend. The gopher snake (Pituophis catenifer) was on the side of the road. I have seen alot of DOR hatchlings in the past week and tried to salvage a paralyzed one that died, but this one is doing fine. He was skinny and slow when I picked him up, but after two pinks, he hisses and shakes his tail at whatever comes by.

The Southern Alligator (Gerrhonotus mullticarinatus) has a most beautiful long tail.
