'Tis the season!
Just wanted to wish everyone luck with their pairings this year. I'm pretty excited. In just a couple more days I'll be putting my males in with my females. Expanded a lot in the past couple years since I attempted any breeding. Up to 20 boas and sold all my other reptiles, lol.
Five pairings planned this year. Big female possible het for Kahl to a male hypo 100% het Kahl. Another big female possible het for Kahl (sibling to the other one) to a possible jungle. Female type 1 anery 100% het for Kahl to a male hypo motley 66% possible het for type 1 anery. Female type 1 ghost 100% het for Kahl to a male Kahl snow. Female type 1 anery 66% het for Kahl to a male hypo jungle 100% het type 1 anery. We'll see how it goes :) |
Good luck! I actually have my first ever paring going in right now! Got to see copulation yesterday morning which I was so excited over haha hypo jungle 100% het kahl to normal supposed het kahl. Hoping she proves!

I just put the males in. Slight change at the last minute in the breeding lineup, but some immediate interest. Always encouraging.
Pair 1 - Male hypo motley 66% possible het. for type 1 anery and female type 1 anery 100% het. for Kahl albino - Already courting. He's my only proven breeder male, so I sort of expected him to show interest first. Pair 2 - Male Kahl snow and type 1 ghost 100% het. for Kahl albino - Currently sitting on opposite ends of her enclosure. He's sniffing around a lot, but isn't venturing too close so far. I'm sure he'll get there. Pair 3 - Male possible jungle and female possible super hypo possible jungle - Investigating each other. Lots of tongue flicking. Not much else so far, but they haven't been in there long. We'll see what happens. Pair 4 - Male hypo 100% het. for Kahl albino and female possible het. for Kahl albino - He's already showing strong courtship, lying on top of her and rubbing his spurs along her side. She's my only female proven breeder. Pair 5 - Male hypo jungle 100% het. for type 1 anery and female type 1 anery 66% possible het. for Kahl albino - Investigating each other. Lots of tongue flicking. He's trying to climb on her back and she keeps moving away. We'll see what happens. The other big female possible het. for Kahl doesn't have a male at the moment. It's only their first day together and already I'm seeing good things. No telling what the season will bring, but I'm pretty hopeful. My fingers are crossed. Best of luck everybody! |
very cool, good luck with the pairings! Pair 3 is very exciting to try to prove them both out as jungles, that would be awesome. I wish you luck!
I'll be trying one this season, hog isle, put them together once so far with no interest, will try again in another week or two. |
Still working on last season here…had a lock just this weekend!
But good luck with your next-season pairings! |

Thanks April and Cliff.
So far I've seen definite courtship from pair 1, pair 2, and pair 4. Decided against pair 5 as written. I think Margaret could use another year, so I put Dampe in with Mary instead. So pair 5 is a large wild type possible het. for Kahl albino to a hypo jungle het. for type 1 anery. Now that they're actually together, the pairings are set and won't be changing any more. They've only been together a week now, so I'd say courtship in 3 out of 5 is pretty good so far. I try not to bother them too much, but I do have a couple pictures to show you guys :) |
thank for the images, keep them coming...
Good luck. |
I have some pictures to post in a couple of days, just wanted to give a quick update on the season.
Pair 1 has probably been cancelled for the season. Lilly sneezed a few times while I was cleaning, so I pulled Motley out and put Lilly in quarantine. She has an appointment with a reptile specialist tomorrow. If things look ok, I'll observe them for a couple weeks for further symptoms and put them back together. If not, they're probably going to wait until next year. Lots and lots of courting and tail alignment from pair 2. Really hoping for some snows and moonglows in the spring :D Some courtship observed in pair 3. Not sure if they'll produce anything or not, but either way I've enjoyed watching them. Kind of a boa voyeur I suppose, heh. Pair 4 seems promising. Both are pretty large, so if I'm lucky there will be lots of babies. Hoping for some sunglows :) Pair 5 took a little longer than most of the others to get going, but he's pretty insistent now. He was courting backwards for almost two weeks, lol. Finally figured out which end was which though. Overall, pretty great. I'll post an update once Lilly has seen the vet. |
